I remember walking up to the gates, the gates opening and this song beginning to play. Awesome.
What I love about this piece is that it repeats three times before looping, every time escalating more and more until it reaches epic proportions. Also, Hammerglockendinger. Hammerglockendinger are always a win in my book.

The perfect soundtrack for the final area. You just know it's going to end very soon, and this song really kicks in the emotions.

I don't think I've ever heard that contains so much pure epicness as To the Last Battle (I'm not calling it The End Lies Ahead, that name is stupid). The song is filled with loud, lively intensity, with a touch of emotion that can only really be described as epic. The intro, for one, is magical. I've never heard a song start at its climax, but it works. There's literally no build-up, it just starting at a very loud main melody, but that's okay. It drives in a sense of urgency, giving more meaning to all your actions and thematically fitting fantastically. That long note at the beginning is phenomenal, giving you a sense of the song, basically before it starts. The way the song is constructed is also fantastic. I feel like the crescendos and decrescendos were placed in the perfect places to just make the song flow. Emphasis is placed on the right notes always, giving a sense of grandeur and importance to notes that need it. The song is incredibly interesting because of it. Finally, this song is filled with so many emotions. There's the fear and anxiety that you'll lose the battle, there's the urgency to finish in time, there's the reminiscence of it being a final area, and most prominently, there's the hope that you'll defeat Zanza. This is arguably the defining emotion of this song, shining throughout the song, and its honestly the thing that I think makes this song as epic as it is.
