Green attended Emerson College briefly in 1998 before leaving to concentrate on his music, going on to co-found the anti folk group The Moldy Peaches with Kimya Dawson. In 2004 The Moldy Peaches went on hiatus and both Green and Dawson embarked on solo careers.
Green released several albums on Rough Trade Records. Among his better known songs are "Jessica" (about singer Jessica Simpson), "Novotel", "Friends of Mine", "Dance with Me", "Carolina" and "Emily", and, in Britain, his cover of The Libertines track "What a Waster".
Prior to Jacket Full of Danger in 2006, all of Green's albums had been released on the 22nd of the month. His latest album was released on March 18, 2008 and is titled Sixes & Sevens. Titles include "Morning After Midnight", "Twee Twee Dee", and "Drowning Head First", the latter a duet between Green and his girlfriend.
In January 2008, The Moldy Peaches began having a resurgence in popularity, due to their music being included in the hit indie film Juno.
Hollywood Bowl
Adam Green Lyrics

I'm in control
Gonna have a bad time
Rocking at the Hollywood Bowl
Blow, daddy, blow
Cause me to weep
Cry, baby, cry
Pass me by
Slap me bye bye
And I don't even have to go
Up in a deconstructed badman
Raging river flow
Melanie asked you for permission to weep, report two more
I'm made a fool
Next time a cool joke
But I can not go back to that town
They make fun of me too much
And I can not go back to that town
Like my brother said before he died
One breaking down
Leave me alone
Nobody home
You've a new brand blue magic cold wedding gown
Not much to say
Cry, baby, cry
But I can not go back to Shanghai
The lyrics to Adam Green's song "Hollywood Bowl" have a surrealistic quality, with images and phrases that do not necessarily make logical sense but create a distinct mood and atmosphere. The song seems to be about the singer's ambivalent feelings towards celebrity and fame, as well as his desire to be left alone and in control of his own life. The opening lines of "Leave me alone, I'm in control" suggest a defiant attitude, but as the song progresses, the singer's sense of control is undermined by various conflicting emotions and external pressures.
The chorus of "Gonna have a bad time, rocking at the Hollywood Bowl" captures the sense of excitement and anticipation that comes with performing in a major venue, but also hints at the possibility of failure or disappointment. The verses contain a variety of bizarre and cryptic lines, such as "blow, daddy, blow, cause me to weep," "all around the breeding ground muscular dudes," and "up in a deconstructed badman, raging river flow." These lines do not have obvious meanings, but they contribute to the dreamlike quality of the song and suggest a world that is both alluring and alienating.
Overall, "Hollywood Bowl" is a song that explores the complexities and contradictions of fame and fortune, as well as the desire for personal autonomy and authenticity that can sometimes conflict with these goals.
