Apocalyptica Lyrics

You splash me with beauty and pull me down
'Cause you come from out of nowhere
My glance turns to a stare
Obsession rules me
I'm yours from the start
I know you see me
'Cause you come from out of nowhere
My glance turns to a stare
One minute here and one minute there
Don't know if I'll laugh or cry
One minute here and one minute there
And then you wave good-bye
Sifting to the bottom, every day for two
All energy funnels, all becomes you
'Cause you come from out of nowhere
My glance turns to a stare
One minute here and one minute there
Don't know if I'll laugh or cry
One minute here and one minute there
And that's all inside
One minute here and one minute there
And then you wave good-bye
The lyrics to Apocalyptica's song "From Out of Nowhere" describe the experience of being swept away by someone who appears suddenly and unexpectedly in one's life. The opening line, "Tossed into my mind, stirring the calm," hints at the disruption caused by this person's sudden appearance. The singer is "splashed with beauty and pulled down," indicating that they are both attracted to and overwhelmed by the other person's presence. This is emphasised in the chorus, which repeats the line "My glance turns to a stare," suggesting that the singer is mesmerised by the other person.
The second verse suggests that the singer becomes obsessed with the other person, stating "Obsession rules me, I'm yours from the start." They also believe that the other person sees them and that their eyes "interlock." Despite this strong connection, there is a sense of uncertainty and emotional turmoil, as the singer doesn't know whether they will "laugh or cry" in response to the other person's presence. The repeated line "One minute here and one minute there" suggests that the other person is not a constant presence in their life, and that their appearances and disappearances are unpredictable.
The final lines of the song reinforce this sense of uncertainty, as the singer describes the other person "waving goodbye" and disappearing from their life once again. The implication is that the singer will continue to be affected by this person's sudden appearances and departures, but they will never be able to predict or control them.

One of their few covers that has nearly the same duration as the original, without them skipping verses or solos. I appreciate this! And IMO this version of the song has more atmosphere than the original version.
