Renowned for her voice range and often credited for her versatility, Bhosle's work includes film music, pop, ghazals, bhajans, traditional Indian Classical music, folk songs, qawwalis, Rabindra Sangeets and Nazrul Geetis. She has sung Hindi, Assamese, Urdu, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, English, Russian, Czech, Nepali, Malay and Malayalam.
In 2006, Asha Bhosle stated that she had sung over 12,000 songs, a figure repeated by several other sources. The World Records Academy, an international organization which certifies world records, recognized her as the "Most Recorded Artist" in the world, in September 2009. The Government of India honoured her with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

এই গান গুলো শুনি আর বুকটা অব্যক্ত যন্ত্রণায় ভরে ওঠে। সেই কোন কিশোর বয়স থেকে শুনছি এই গান গুলো । আজও এই উত্তর প্রৌঢ়ত্বে শুনি । শুনি আর সেই কৈশোরের দিনগুলো মনে পড়ে। সেদিনের সেই চরাচর, সেই প্রেক্ষিত, সেই সময়, কৈশোরের সেই চপলতা, সেই ভালোলাগা সব যেন মানস চোখে দেখতে পাই, মনটা ভারাক্রান্ত হয়। এই সুর, এই কথা,এই গায়নশৈলী যেন আত্মার সঙ্গে একাত্ম হয়ে আছে। বাকি যতদিন থাকব এই ধরাধামে এই গানগুলোকে আঁকড়ে ধরেই থাকব, যতই কষ্ট হোক।

Wonderful song, eliciting such deep feelings. Same is true for me a 62 year old man, with three brain surgeries, but still going strong & getting to play this gem of a song sitting on my recliner in my bedroom, with my little dog "Buddy," curled up near my feet, deep asleep. ৫৯ বছর আগের এক সকাল বেলায় প্রথম শুনেছিলাম। দূরে মাইকে কোথায় বাজছিল।তখন আমার ৩ কি ৪ বছর বয়স। আজও ভুলতে পারি না সেই সকালের স্মৃতি।
