Renowned for her voice range and often credited for her versatility, Bhosle's work includes film music, pop, ghazals, bhajans, traditional Indian Classical music, folk songs, qawwalis, Rabindra Sangeets and Nazrul Geetis. She has sung Hindi, Assamese, Urdu, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, English, Russian, Czech, Nepali, Malay and Malayalam.
In 2006, Asha Bhosle stated that she had sung over 12,000 songs, a figure repeated by several other sources. The World Records Academy, an international organization which certifies world records, recognized her as the "Most Recorded Artist" in the world, in September 2009. The Government of India honoured her with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

I don't understand why Ashaji never mentions OP in her interviews. She always gives the credit to S.D Burman and R. D. Burman or others like Jaidev, Madan Mohan etc but never mentions OP who had been a figure formulating Ashaji's voice. Every one in this world has a feet of clay

Sir OP Nayer sahab was very class musician. He never gave importance to Asha ji . So it was natural where Asha and Lata were so arrogant in their behaviour . Lata ji even disrespected Rafi sahab on the issue of royalty of songs . This confrontation continued for a long time and at that time Suman Kalyanpur came into existence otherwise both never permitted any other singer to come in music industry I their competition

It's not lata and Asha who didn't permit sumankalyapur into industry. The fact is that the music directors themselves didn't want any other singers for their songs. They were the masters and they knew who were the best singers. Lata even confronted the great Raj Kapoor and other big shots on the issue of royalty and made them accept her conditions. Why did they all do that? And when lataji went abroad for months,the music directors delayed their recording till lataji came back.they all knew that there was no one who could match lataji's singing skills. Even Sajjad Hossain, a hardest music director to work with admitted that no one could sing like lataji. Those who understand sur will know that lataji was matchless.
