pour me sentir enfermé
The lyrics of "Si" by Batlik depict a troubled relationship where the singer is resentful of their dependence on their partner and their own lack of agency. The song begins with the singer questioning what they should do now that they have fought with their partner. They suggest apologizing and pretending like nothing happened, but they are aware that their words have had no impact and that there is a deep-seated anger between them that cannot be resolved easily.
The second verse is a reflection on the violent impulses that arise when they are faced with conflict. The singer admits to feeling a sense of satisfaction when expressing their anger and imagines that their partner may feel the same way. However, they acknowledge that the dependency they have on each other is the root of this violence. They wish they could be free of these feelings and live like a cowboy, independent and unencumbered by anyone else. Yet, they know that they are not capable of this and that they are stuck in this relationship, unable to let go or move on.
The chorus of the song is a series of hypothetical questions that the singer asks themselves. They wonder what would happen if they were to let go of their partner's hand, if their life would become less meaningful, or if they would be able to stop themselves from walking away completely. These questions reveal the singer's inner turmoil and the struggle they face in maintaining their relationship while also desiring independence.

alors voilà maintenant
Here we are now
qu'est ce qu'on fait maintenant
What do we do now?
We apologize and leave by saying
que tout est comme avant
That everything is back to normal
que des mots sortis de nos bouches
That the words we said
aucun n'a fait mouche
Didn't have any effect
qu'il n'y a même pas eu de sang
That there wasn't even any blood
I think that blood impresses me less
que le son de nos intestins
Than the sound of our bowels
lorsque tankés face à face
When faced with each other
on aboit comme des chiens
We bark like dogs
finit le temps des hululements
The time for howling is over
place à celui des hurlements
Now it's time for screaming
tout s'oublie sauf le mépris
Everything is forgotten except the contempt
Maybe my hand isn't broken
faudra changer la porte d'entrée
The front door will have to be changed
Anyway, I don't need it anymore
pour me sentir enfermé
To feel trapped
j'imagine que pour toi aussi
I imagine that it's the same for you
lorsque tu y réfléchis
When you think about it
toutes les questions commencent par si
All the questions start with if
si demain je lâche ta main
If tomorrow I let go of your hand
est ce que je tombe
Will I fall?
est ce que ma vie me paraîtrait
Will my life seem
un peu moins digne d'intérêt
A bit less interesting
jusqu'où je vais
How far will I go?
est ce que je m'arrête au bout de la rue
Will I stop at the end of the street
Or will I turn the corner?
j'en veux à ma dépendance
I blame my addiction
It's from there that the violence comes
sans bâillon pas besoin de crier
Without a gag, there's no need to scream
sans camisole pas besoin de forcer
Without a straitjacket, there's no need to force
je me vois comme un petit soldat
I see myself as a little soldier
qui chialerait en marchant au pas
Who would cry while marching in step
sans l'audace de déserter
Without the courage to desert
je voudrais être un putain de cowboy
I would like to be a damn cowboy
et n'avoir besoin de personne
And not need anyone
un arbre planqué dans un pré
A tree hidden in a meadow
sur lequel personne viendrait pisser
Where no one would come to pee
But I don't even know how to ride a horse
avec une arme je me ferais mal
I would hurt myself with a weapon
et je veux pas passer mes hivers
And I don't want to spend my winters
a chialer dans les courants d'air
Crying in drafts
je t'en veux
I'm upset with you
je m'en veux
I'm upset with myself
de me dire que
For telling myself that
si demain je lâche ta main
If tomorrow I let go of your hand
est ce que je tombe
Will I fall?
est ce que ma vie me paraîtrait
Will my life seem
un peu moins digne d'intérêt
A bit less interesting
jusqu'où je vais
How far will I go?
est ce que je m'arrête au bout de la rue
Will I stop at the end of the street
Or will I turn the corner?
