Since its debut in 1969 his television show has been sold to over 140 countries worldwide, with viewership in the millions.
The song "Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In the West)" is a bit autobiographical. Benny Hill had been a milkman in Eastleigh, Hampshire, working for Hanns Dairy whose premises was yards way from Market Street. There was a bakery near the dairy that did indeed have a delivery van. Having been born and raised (and eventually buried) in Southampton, Benny Hill did live in Teddington.

Wonderful seeing these old clips, thank you for posting
@catyear75
Great song , clever lyrics . I'm surprised Benny didn't perform this one on his later programs. The Ladybirds were in fine form as well !

Fabulous. What memories. Speaking of which, there was once a skit on the Benny Hill Show which featured a song that had cockney lyrics that I cannot find anywhere. The part I remember is a bit of the chorus: ...oi, oi, and a plate full of jellied eels. Creels and creels of nice jellied eels... does anyone know the title or the rest of the words? Many heartfelt thanks.
