On January, 22nd 2007, bandleader Jochen Distelmeyer announced the decision to split the band (in peace) after their final 2007 tour.
The name of the band was coined by the main character of the short story "Blumfeld, ein älterer Junggeselle" ("Blumfeld, an elderly Bachelor") by Franz Kafka.
In 2014 the original line-up reunited for a tour to celebrate the 20th anniversity of the release of their album L'etat et moi. It's announced that they will split again after that tour in 2014.
You Make Me

In Blumfeld's song You Make Me, the lyrics express the confusion and anxiety of the singer as they struggle to come to terms with their feelings towards someone. The opening lines set the scene by describing the singer as lost and in search of themselves, wondering how to proceed. The singer is torn between different directions, unable to focus on any one thing, but consistently drawn towards the object of their affection.
The lyrics take on a more frenzied tone as the singer describes their constant motion, both physically and emotionally. They imagine themselves hurtling through the atmosphere and beyond, chasing shadows and trying to make sense of past events. The confusion and chaotic energy are reflected in the difficulty the singer has in expressing themselves, finding the words and melodies that will convey the depth of their emotions.
As the song progresses, the singer's feelings remain elusive and hard to pin down, while the object of their desire becomes increasingly vague. The singer seems to long to connect with this person but is not able to fully articulate what it is they want. At times, the singer seems to be addressing themselves or the listener directly, acknowledging the difficulty of understanding oneself and the challenge of expressing complex emotions. In the end, the lyrics offer more questions than answers, leaving the listener to ponder the complexities of human relationships and the struggle to connect with others.

I am the fear, the fear of myself
