Don't Let Me Down
Buckingham Nicks Lyrics

I'm the best boy that you ever had
You want to leave now and find a new start
It's gonna kill me if you break my heart
Ooh once you let me down again
Ooh, you're just bound to see the end
I'm gonna make it again someday
There's just one thing I'd like you to know
I got no more to lose if you go
Ooh, once you let me down again
Ooh, you're just bound to see the end
The lyrics to Buckingham Nicks's song "Don't Let Me Down Again" express a desperate plea from a partner who has been let down before and fears that history may repeat itself. The opening lines start with a request not to be treated badly and a declaration of being the best the partner has ever had. The fear of being left and facing a broken heart is highlighted in the next lines as a warning that their departure will be devastating. The chorus emphasizes the impact of the partner's actions, alluding to how the continued pattern of being let down will eventually lead to the end of the relationship.
The second verse continues the pattern of the first, with a plea not to be treated badly again. The declaration that the partner will make it through someday follows, likely alluding to the prospect of moving forward and finding a new relationship if their current partner leaves. The final lines of the verse speak to the lack of anything left to lose, further emphasizing the severity of the potential loss. The chorus concludes the song, reinforcing the central theme of being let down and ultimately bringing about the end of the relationship.
Overall, "Don't Let Me Down Again" is a poignant and emotive song that speaks to the universal fear of being let down in a relationship. The lyrics express the desperation and anxiety of trying to keep a relationship together in the face of past disappointment and future uncertainty.
