Bio: Chant is a trio born in 1999 from an idea of drummer Cristiano Calcanile.
Until 2007, Chant performed as an acoustic trio, releasing an album in 2003 for the Italian label "Caligola" that was enthusiastically received by critics for the strong interplay of the players and the original blend of compositional elements and free improvisation.
In 2007, during the recording of their second album, the trio felt a strong need to rethink their musical working method, and thus the decision of enrich their instrumental and compositional palette. That necessity brought the inclusion of electric and electronic (electric bass and synthesizers) and acoustic instruments (harpsichord, pipe organ, clavichord and harmonium) as well as the use of the recording studio "as an instrument" (a feature that is usually atypical in the improvised music field). This process consisted in one year dedicated to the pre-production of the new material, and a new, longer recording session during Summer 2008 in Finland.
This music is the result of our personal research between composition and improvisation, but with a strong intention of leaving the interplay and the simple joy of playing together intact.

“An Unsettling Truth” It was shocking to see the state of “Heaven.” Just like as described in the Bible, it was an opulent splendor, with beautiful pristine buildings and a glowing light that illuminated the place.
However...
“Where are the Angels? And God? I thought Heaven was their domain?” I asked, realizing now that the streets of the holy city was empty.
The beautiful woman before me frowned, “Heaven is vacant now. Even the souls that passed on to here are few and in between.”
“The Angels.... are they dead?” I didn’t want to believe it.
“...your scriptures tell that of a war between Satan and the angels lead by Archangel Michael. Satan and the fallen Angels fell to Earth following their defeat. The truth is, not only did that battle result in the deaths of the most of the souls in Heaven during that time.... the rebel Angels weren’t the only Angels to fall to Earth. Michael’s victory cost him and his fellow Angels their lives. ALL of the Angels and Archangels fell to not just Earth but other planets in the material universe. Heaven has since been abandoned....”

The knight fell to her knees, both her armor and her will are sundered by heavy blows from the soldier before her. No mercy came from her enemy, as a violent crack rang out and her vision faded away before her.
She soon found herself waking upon soft grass, her armor no longer burdening her nor did she carry any wounds from the previous battle. A gentle hum rang through the plains she rested upon, the sky a comforting twilight shows a glimmering array of stars and cerulean light.
Picking herself up, finding she has been draped in silky white robes, she took in her surroundings. Lush and unspoiled landscapes filled her vision, a reflection of the battlefield she had just been on. No corpse, soldier, nor carrion bird made its presence known to the land. Only a gentle birdsong and the occasional rustle of the grasses beneath her betrayed the knowledge of other life in the area. She gandered upon the hills on which she lead her calvary, the forests in which she hid and pounced upon her prey, and the plains on which she fought and died….
It did not take her long to realize her situation, yet panic took no hold over her mind. She had prepared for this moment ever since she took her oath to the crown and to the people. Embracing the gentle warmth of her afterlife, she pushed onwards. Even in death, more adventure and discovery awaited her. A new trial of her “life” blossomed before her and she was determined to take in it’s bliss.

Winged beings hovered all throughout the colossal empyrean hall; gigantic pillars of white marble laced with veins of silver touched a ceiling that could not be seen through the crowd of souls. Chanting seemed to float down gently to the ground from the heights of the enormous chamber. All light in the room seemed to come not from the host assembled in it, but from the Lady seated the throne of crystal that sat at the end of the room. In front of the crystal throne knelt a grizzled man in armor, his sword laying across his outstretched palms extended toward the Lady.
“I swear,” the armored man said, “my life to the service of the Lady of War and Glory. I renounce all other loyalties and lay them at Her feet. I renounce my nation, and lay it at Her feet. I renounce my village, and lay it at Her feet. I renounce, my family and lay it at Her feet. I renounce Cedric of Durthan, and lay it at Her feet. I kneel before Her, nameless, all ties to home and self cut, ready to accept the will of my Lady.”
“Rise, Domon Mondag,” the Lady said, “paladin of the Lady of War and Glory, Light in the Abyss. Take with you My blessing, that you may return as you have left, whole and complete in mind, body, and soul. May your sword smite your enemy. May your shield stay your foe’s attack. May you crush your opponent underfoot. May his head adorn your hall as trophy, won by your right hand.” the Lady breathed on the armored man. “May My spirit keep you forever.”
He rose and said, “May all glory go to my Lady. May future tales speak of the actions of the Lady of Glory, and may all histories forget my name.”
The Lady stepped forward and embraced the man. The chanting grew louder as the man walked out of the hall, followed closely by the Lady and the host of souls and angels.

While in fact, you're actually closer to the guy(s) who composed this music, God wasn't the one behind his keyboard and record. In this case, Michael Ghelfi Studios was.
For all that we know, if God actually exist (which is, by nature, something that has never been proven), maybe his actual "music" and "singing" sounds more like 50 cent's rap or K-pop. Who knows? lol.
But yeah, i'm not a believer at all, being cartesian, while not completely denying the idea that there is an all-powerful sentient entity above our head (making me an agnostic by definition). So i'm not gonna say "i feel closer to God" or whatever.
Nor will I say some pompous pretentious assumption like "god" is "by your side, wishing you the best"... (what the hell do YOU know Gabriel ?!... Are you some mystical messenger by God?... You claim YOU know God's plan for Phoenix Rising444, if he ever exist?... Shut your mouth, lol... If God exist, you know nothing about his will... Afterall, religion say "God moves in mysterious way". So don't act like you know Gabriel...)
Anyway, I digress... Thanks a lot Gabriel Laão! lol....
I don't feel "closer to god", but sure this type of singing/music is inspiring and calming... :-)

Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love.
Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans
. The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom.
If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. It's not about following the law - perfectly, as it's impossible - it's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him through His power (not ourselves as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction).
He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if you had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place.
He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it.
He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way.
NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER
