Deep Insight was formed in early 2002 in Kokkola, Finland by childhood friends Jukka (vocals) and Johannes (guitar). They soon found Joachim (drums) and Kaj (bass), cousins to each other, to complete the band.
The first release, Julia ep, was a theme record focused around the life and death of Julia, a character created by Jukka and Johannes on their crazy road trip to Paris in the winter of 2001. It actually gained many good reviews, most of them praising the young band’s promising songwriting and Jukka’s exceptional voice. It also got the band’s name spread around the music industry.
In 2003 big things started to happen for Deep Insight. The band recorded their debut album Ivory Tower at Soundtrack Studios in Helsinki, Finland, and Kaj was replaced by Miska on bass. Miska instantly gave a whole new meaning to sayings “ripping the bass” and “man uses his instrument like he uses his women”. The album came out in May, and the band started their first ever European tour.
Timing was perfect; Deep Insight’s mix of American rock and emo with Scandinavian influences was received with great enthousiasm amongst the audience and critics. It was only back home in Finland where the response was more reserved. Deep Insight soon returned to Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Latvia for summer festivals, and in October, it was time for the third foreign tour, a 5-week European adventure.
The second album "Red Lights, White Lines" was recorded and mixed in June-July 2004 with producers Jens Bogren (Katatonia, Lambretta) and Jonas Olsson (Callisto), who also supervised the pre-production before letting the band enter one of Sweden’s finest studios, Fascination Street (ex-Kuling) in Örebro. Finally, the album was mastered by Thomas Eberger (Bo Kaspers Orkester, Nine, Raised Fist) at Cutting Room in Stockholm, Sweden. And the sound and songs turned out great. Some critics gave it a rating 10/10 some gave it a 3/5.
Joachim decided to move to pastures new after the recording sessions and in came Ville. The third album "One Minute Too Late" came out in 2006 and is stylistically more diverse, including e.g. Mexican influences (on Five Minute Murder). After a while Miska also decided to leave the band, and along came Jore to fill his place.
After a little break in July 2008 the band was back to the studio recording new album. And this time they spent more time on making it instead of the usual one month locked inside. The release of the album is due to next spring. However, first single Rock With My Band will hit the stores in Finland on the 18th of February and digitally released on the 2nd of February in iTunes.
Deep Insight is back on the road and the Eropean tour starts in the end of April 2009.

Hurricane Season
Deep Insight Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You must feel pretty brown spin to your end
Driving from dusk to dawn
Searching for another teenage relation
Same old people, same old town
Same old question swerve
People spending all their time
You have to have the right style and a haircut
To be able to join their little club
You come here get rid of your past
This town gives you a free banquet salvation
Same old people, same old town
Same old question swerve
People spending all their time
Living without life
Same old people, spending their time
Living without life
Same old people, spending their lifes
Living without time
Living in behind now
I'm free now
Living in behind now
I'm fine now
I'm fine now
The lyrics of Deep Insight's "Hurricane Season" portray a sense of entrapment and disillusionment in a small town where individuals fall into the same patterns and routines day after day without challenge or growth. The opening lines, "Round and round again, you must feel pretty brown spin to your end," convey a feeling of being trapped in a cycle. The use of the word "brown" could imply a dullness, a lack of vibrancy, and an unchanging nature of the environment. The refrain, "Same old people, same old town, same old question swerve," supports this idea of stagnation.
The following lines, "People spending all their time, living without life," suggest that although individuals may be going through the motions of living, they are not truly alive in the sense of experiencing new things or feeling fulfilled. The lyrics then shift to the desire to escape this environment, represented by the lines, "You come here, get rid of your past, this town gives you a free banquet salvation." The use of the word "banquet" could imply a sense of abundance, but it also has a connotation of a last meal, suggesting that this environment is not sustainable in the long term.
Overall, the lyrics of "Hurricane Season" convey a sense of disillusionment and the need for change, with the repeated refrain emphasizing the monotony of life in this small town.
