De la neige en été
Diabologum Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
On voudrait bien faire marche arrière
The lyrics of Diabologum's song De la neige en été describe a surreal and disturbing scene where the world has changed and it has snowed in the middle of August. The singer observes how the streets are empty, the stores are closed, and the atmosphere resembles that of a war or a holiday where there are no family meals or electricity. The situation is so unusual that people start to gather on the streets, making bonfires and trying to stay warm in their K-Way jackets. The singer notes that there is a sense of despair and that people seem to be on the brink of madness. Despite this, the chorus suggests that people should make the most of the situation and enjoy the novelty of having snow in the summer.
The second verse of the song continues the surreal scene, with the singer watching his neighbors playing cards, eating bread, and drinking wine, while dogs are present too. There is a sense of resignation, and one of the characters even apologizes for the situation. The song concludes with a sense of unease and discomfort as the singer realizes that they have made a mistake, but nobody has spoken up about it. The repetition of "et personne n'a rien dit" (and nobody said anything) emphasizes the feeling of impotence and inaction in the face of a seemingly irreversible situation.

@asakennn
