Heavily influenced by American rock & roll, Mitchell (who went solo in 1963) has often recorded outside France, at first in London, but later in Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee. Guitarist Jimmy Page and drummer Bob Graham were among the British session musicians who regularly supported him in London.

J'ouvre la station service
J'vois passer au loin
L'dernier car de police
Le blues des villes
V'là ce que j'en pense
Un petit peu d'huile
Qui nage dans un plein d'essence
Une fille dans une caisse
Et moi qui nettoie son pare-brise
Elle paye en espèces
N'a ni sac à main ni valise
Le blues des villes
C'est comme j'te dis
Les yeux d'une fille
Qui sait pas qu' c'est lundi
Le blues des villes
Elle démarre très vite
J' la suis des yeux tant pis
Le blues des villes
Elle va vers un type
Très amoureux transi
Ils se séparent
Fin d'une histoire
Il est tout seul, il balise
Le blues des villes
Tiens v'la un loubard
Il vient pour me braquer
Oui le blues des villes
C'est aussi d'se retrouver
A domicile
Flingue sous le nez
Je lui donne ma némo
J'ai une peau à sauver
Le blues des villes
Il s'enfuit très vite
J'la suis des yeux aussi
Le blues des villes
Il rejoint cette fille
Très amoureuse de lui
Dix heures du mat'
Je bois un petit noir
Tout ça n'm'dit pas
Avec qui j'vais coucher c'soir.
Le blues des villes
Y a des moments
C'est des mots qui...
Sexe et sentiment
Le blues des villes

Blues
"Le Blues Des Villes" is a song by Eddy Mitchell that talks about his experiences working in a gas station in the city. The song starts off with the singer opening the station at six in the morning and seeing the last police car pass by. He describes the blues of the city or what he thinks it is, which is a little bit of oil floating in a full tank of fuel.
As he is cleaning a girl's windshield, she pays him in cash and does not have a purse or a suitcase. He describes the blues of the city as the eyes of a girl who doesn't realize it's Monday. The girl quickly drives away, and the singer watches her as she meets up with her lover who is hopelessly in love with her. They eventually separate, leaving the man heartbroken while the girl drives away.
Later, a thief comes to rob the singer, pointing a gun at him. He gives up his belongings to save his life. The thief quickly flees, and the singer later sees him meeting up with the girl he previously encountered. The song ends with the singer drinking coffee, unsure of who he will end up sleeping with that night.
