Time Stands Still
Elitist Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Who came before us?
What lies ahead?
When will we know of our god?

Woven through the history suspended in time
Created from the very mold in which we will die

In the blink of an eye we will construct instincts and memories
In the blink of an eye we will construct instincts and memories

Who came before us?
What lies ahead?
When will we know of our god?

Everything in sequence
Everything in its right place
Everything in sequence
When will we ever stand still?

We are here
Slowing down the hands of time will not make us disappear
We are here
With knowledge and purpose
Strength will find us

We are here
Slowing down the hands of time will not make us disappear
We are here
With knowledge and purpose
Strength will find us

Everything in sequence
Everything in its right place
Everything in sequence
When will it ever stand still?

Who came before us?
What lies ahead?
When will we know of our god?

Who came before us?
What lies ahead?
We will find our way

We are here
Slowing down the hands of time will not make us disappear
We are here

With knowledge and purpose
Strength will find us

Overall Meaning

The song "Time Stands Still" by Elitist is a contemplative and introspective piece that explores the mysteries of life and death. The opening lines, "Who came before us? What lies ahead? When will we know of our god?" suggest a sense of existential curiosity and a desire for answers to profound questions about our place in the universe. The lyrics also touch upon the cyclic nature of life, with the idea that everything is "woven through the history suspended in time" and that we are "created from the very mold in which we will die."

The repeated refrain of "Everything in sequence, everything in its right place" suggests a belief in order and balance in the universe. However, the song also acknowledges that despite this order, time itself is constantly moving forward and nothing can stop it. The lines "Slowing down the hands of time will not make us disappear" suggest a resistance to the inevitable passage of time, and the assertion that "we are here with knowledge and purpose" speaks to a desire to make the most of the time we have.

This is really great stuff!! But I would love to hear Elitist do clean vocals too, i think they would fit beautifully with the guitar riffs.

I love every single Elitist song so far, to me they are as good as Misery Signals.

JTM Conceptions

A lot of people have been comparing this band to Northlane and Erra, but honestly, I don't see the resemblance. The instrumentation of this band is great, but the vocals are a lot like the band While She Sleeps in the sense that there is not much diversity within it. It's mostly the same tone of screaming throughout. The lyrics that I have seen so far also didn't live up to my expectations. Although, still much better than the majority of shitty lyrics being distributed throughout the music industry, I was expecting more. This band seems to have potential, but at the moment it's lacking that special tone that would separate them from other bands and make them stand out more.

I love how the best (imo) metalcore bands in terms of melody, vocal tone, beat/flow etc seem to coincidentally write song topics that really resonate with me n actually mean something and are thought provocative in nature. Rather than some screechy-ass motherflipper in front of a microphone, mostly wailing about their weak endeavours; like how their girlfriend just dumped them, boohoo. Breeding more emos into our society... bless But yeah anyway, massive respect to these guys.

Been looking for a great new band, these guys are it
