Che mettevi per me,
Tra le cose che hai dimenticato qui;
Delle scarpe di tela
Consumate dal sole,
Tra le cose che hai dimenticato qui.
C'è un giornale che ho letto,
Tra le cose che non hai portato via;
Il mio primo biglietto,
Quella tua canottiera,
Tra le cose che mi fanno compagnia.
E' incredibile pensare a come
A volte si nascondono,
Poi saltano fuori
Quando non le cerchi più;
Sono come le persone come noi,
Sono fatte come siamo fatti noi.
C'è quel vaso di fiori
Che non riempivo più,
Tra le cose che hai dimenticato qui;
Sulle deboli persone come noi,
Sulle povere persone come noi.
C'è un'impronta sul muro
Perché un quadro non c'è,
Tra le cose che hai dimenticato qui.
Tra i coltelli e il caffè
Hai lasciato anche me,
Tra le cose che hai dimenticato qui
The song "Oggetti Smarriti" by Enrico Ruggeri is about the things left behind by a lover who has gone away. The song talks about all the items left behind, from a dress that was worn for the singer to an old vase of flowers, forgotten by the lover. These objects become reminders of the past and provide comfort to the singer who is left alone. The song highlights how these objects, like people, can hide and reappear unexpectedly, a reflection of how memories resurface over time.
The lyrics also paint a picture of the winds of change, and the promises they carry. Memories and moments can be carried away by the wind, but some leave an imprint that can never be erased. The song suggests that even though we are weak, we treasure the memories that we hold dear, and these objects left behind serve as a reminder of love once shared.
In summary, "Oggetti Smarriti" is a poignant meditation on love, loss, and the things that remain. It speaks to the bittersweet memories that linger long after love has gone, and the importance of holding onto these memories, even as time passes.

You used to wear for me,
Among the things you forgot here;
Canvas shoes
Worn out by the sun,
Among the things you forgot here.

Tra le cose che non hai portato via;
Il mio primo biglietto,
Quella tua canottiera,

There's a newspaper I read,
Wax candles
Among the things you didn't take away;
My first ticket,
Your tank top,
Among the things that keep me company.

A volte si nascondono,
Poi saltano fuori
Quando non le cerchi più;
Sono come le persone come noi,

Sometimes things hide,
Then pop up
When you stop looking for them;
They're like people like us,
They're made like we're made.

Che non riempivo più,
Tra le cose che hai dimenticato qui;
Una stampa a colori,
Credo fosse Dalì,

I no longer filled,
Among the things you forgot here;
A color print,
I think it was a Dali,
Among the things you forgot here.

Sconfitte vestite da grandi vittorie.
E il vento riporta alla luce
Certi segni sulla pelle che non cambieranno mai
Sulle deboli persone come noi,

And the wind carries memories:
Defeats dressed up as great victories.
And the wind brings to light
Certain marks on the skin that will never change
On weak people like us,
On poor people like us.
C'è un'impronta sul muro
Perché un quadro non c'è,
Tra le cose che hai dimenticato qui.

Because a painting is missing,
Among the things you forgot here.
Between the knives and the coffee
You also left me,
Among the things you forgot here.
