The band eventually broke up in 1996 and Bunbury started his solo career in 1997 with a techno album, Radical Sonora with his new band: Copi (piano), del Moran (bass), Ramón Gacias (drums) and former Héroes del Silencio guitarrist Alan Boguslavsky.
Recognized by his wish to always reinvent himself, Bunbury released in 1999 the album Pequeño, which sounded much different than anything he did before. His band also suffered changes, Boguslavsky was replaced by Rafa Domínguez, and the new faces, Ana Belén Estaje (violin), Luis Miguel Romero (percussion), Javier Iñigo, Javier García Vega & Antonio Ríos in the metal instruments.
This band was known as the "Huracán Ambulante" ("Rambling Hurricane") and recorded with Bunbury the rest of his solo discography, (except Antonio Ríos).
In 2005, after 8 years together, Bunbury dissolved the band and declared that will record a new album in 2006 only with his voice and a piano. Nevertheless, in early 2006 he recorded an album with spanish artist Nacho Vegas by the name of El tiempo de las cerezas.
His old band, Héroes del Silencio, reunited in 2007 for a short tour which visited Latin America, United States and Spain.

Sólo me espera quien no me conoce
Alguien me ama, alguien me destruye
Ventanas o espejos, quebrados o abiertos
The lyrics of Enrique Bunbury's song Bujías Para El Dolor express feelings of loss, confusion, and a search for comfort. The singer describes himself as someone who has missed trains in the rain and seeks refuge while no longer believing in happiness. He acknowledges that despite his questions being the same, they will not cease. He uses metaphorical language to describe memory as a magician's hat, and sets his direction towards the south as his true north. The mention of the Virgin of Carmen and patronage of the sea, as well as the concept of a lost paradise, conjure up a sense of spiritual longing. The singer also mentions love as smuggled goods in a caravan, possibly alluding to a past relationship. Finally, he admits to having Gilles de la Tourette syndrome and that it is the wind of the northeast that composes the rest of his story.
Overall, Bujías Para El Dolor is a lament of sorts, where the singer is grappling with various emotions surrounding his past, present, and future. The use of vivid imagery and metaphors helps to convey a sense of loss and longing, while the line "bujías dame para el dolor" can be interpreted as a plea for some emotional healing.
