The band eventually broke up in 1996 and Bunbury started his solo career in 1997 with a techno album, Radical Sonora with his new band: Copi (piano), del Moran (bass), Ramón Gacias (drums) and former Héroes del Silencio guitarrist Alan Boguslavsky.
Recognized by his wish to always reinvent himself, Bunbury released in 1999 the album Pequeño, which sounded much different than anything he did before. His band also suffered changes, Boguslavsky was replaced by Rafa Domínguez, and the new faces, Ana Belén Estaje (violin), Luis Miguel Romero (percussion), Javier Iñigo, Javier García Vega & Antonio Ríos in the metal instruments.
This band was known as the "Huracán Ambulante" ("Rambling Hurricane") and recorded with Bunbury the rest of his solo discography, (except Antonio Ríos).
In 2005, after 8 years together, Bunbury dissolved the band and declared that will record a new album in 2006 only with his voice and a piano. Nevertheless, in early 2006 he recorded an album with spanish artist Nacho Vegas by the name of El tiempo de las cerezas.
His old band, Héroes del Silencio, reunited in 2007 for a short tour which visited Latin America, United States and Spain.

Cualquiera puede escribir
Y decir lo que piensa sin pensar
Una ocurrencia, un rumor
Un tostón folosofal, una línea sacada de contexto
Es un buen pretexto para poder lanzar
Tu arma arrojadiza
Por tu forma de andar te reconocerán
Al final el problema serás tú
Y el tic tac del reloj
Marca tus horas
Cuenta hacia atrás
¿cuánto crees que te quedará?
Podrás escribir a renglón seguido
Un indulto, otro insulto
O lo que creas más injusto
Puedes utilizar una creencia popular
Un refrán o una mentira aprendida
Y el tic tac del reloj
Marca tus horas
Cuenta hacia atrás
¿cuánto crees que te quedará?
Qué tal escuchar
Otras voces algo que no conoces
Que te pueda apasionar
Que te pueda sorprender
Como la primera vez por última vez
Puedes utilizar una creencia popular
Un refrán o una mentira aprendida
Y el tic tac del reloj
Marca tus horas
Cuenta hacia atrás
¿cuánto crees que te quedará?
Marca tus horas
Cuenta hacia atrás
Cuánto crees que te quedará
The lyrics of Enrique Bunbury's song "Canción Cruel" are a commentary on how people believe in the information that they receive, without considering if it is true or not. The song starts by telling listeners not to believe everything they hear, as anyone can write or say whatever they want without thinking about it. People often take things out of context to use them as weapons against others, and this creates problems for everyone involved. The ticking of a clock is used as a motif throughout the song to emphasize the idea that time is running out for people who believe in lies and falsehoods.
Bunbury encourages listeners to explore new and unknown voices that might surprise or enlighten them, rather than sticking to their preconceived beliefs or opinions. He suggests that people can form their own opinions based on what they learn from others, rather than just blindly accepting what they are told. The song ends with the idea that people should take control of their own lives, become their own person and accept the responsibility instead of resorting to blame game.
Overall, "Canción Cruel" is a song that urges listeners to think for themselves and not rely on others to shape their beliefs. It encourages people to seek out new perspectives and information, to broaden their understanding of the world and to accept their own responsibility for their actions.
