The band eventually broke up in 1996 and Bunbury started his solo career in 1997 with a techno album, Radical Sonora with his new band: Copi (piano), del Moran (bass), Ramón Gacias (drums) and former Héroes del Silencio guitarrist Alan Boguslavsky.
Recognized by his wish to always reinvent himself, Bunbury released in 1999 the album Pequeño, which sounded much different than anything he did before. His band also suffered changes, Boguslavsky was replaced by Rafa Domínguez, and the new faces, Ana Belén Estaje (violin), Luis Miguel Romero (percussion), Javier Iñigo, Javier García Vega & Antonio Ríos in the metal instruments.
This band was known as the "Huracán Ambulante" ("Rambling Hurricane") and recorded with Bunbury the rest of his solo discography, (except Antonio Ríos).
In 2005, after 8 years together, Bunbury dissolved the band and declared that will record a new album in 2006 only with his voice and a piano. Nevertheless, in early 2006 he recorded an album with spanish artist Nacho Vegas by the name of El tiempo de las cerezas.
His old band, Héroes del Silencio, reunited in 2007 for a short tour which visited Latin America, United States and Spain.

Ahora no te conozco
No me llames cariño, no necesito caridad
Ya no somos unos críos, ya está todo dicho
Que cada uno siga su camino
Cada uno en su lugar
Cuando buscaba consuelo, tú no me escuchabas
Nunca era el momento para mis depresiones
Demasiados lamentos, demasiadas discusiones
No me llames cariño, no necesito caridad
Ya no somos unos críos, ya está todo dicho
Que cada uno siga su camino
Cada uno en su lugar
Cada uno en su lugar
No me llames cariño
Ten caridad
The lyrics of Enrique Bunbury's song "No Me Llames Cariño" convey a message of the singer no longer wanting to be called "darling" or given charity, but rather to be allowed to follow his own path in life, separate from the person he is addressing. The first verse reflects on the fact that they are no longer young and their relationship is over. The message is clear that they need to move on and find their own futures apart from one other.
The second verse focuses on the singer's longing to be close to the person he is addressing, only to find that they have moved on and no longer feel the same way towards him. He compares it to his feelings of trying to kiss an impenetrable object, leaving him feeling empty and bitter.
The final verse reflects upon the singer's mental health and how the other person was not supportive when he needed it. The song represents the end of a relationship that has run its course and the need for the two individuals to find their own way in life. Instead of charity or misplaced concern for one another, they must allow themselves to move on and grow.
