After Midnight
Eric Clapton Lyrics
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down
After midnight, we're gonna chug-a-lug and shout
We're gonna stimulate some action
We're gonna get some satisfaction
We're gonna find out what it is all about (what it is all about, what it is all about)
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down (after midnight, after midnight)
After midnight, we're gonna shake your tambourine (after midnight, after midnight)
After midnight, it's all gonna be peaches and cream (after midnight, after midnight)
We're gonna cause talk and suspicion, we're gonna give an exhibition
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down (we're gonna let it all hang down)
(We're gonna let it all hang down)
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down (we're gonna let it all hang down)
After midnight, we're gonna shake your tambourine
(Gonna shake your tambourine, gonna shake your tambourine)
After midnight, it's all gonna be peaches and cream
(Gonna shake your tambourine, gonna shake your tambourine)
We're gonna cause talk and suspicion, we're gonna give an exhibition
We're gonna find out what it is all about (what it is all about, what it is all about)
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down (after midnight, after midnight)
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down
(Gonna let it all hang down, gonna let it all hang down)
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down
(Gonna let it all hang down, gonna let it all hang down)
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down
(Gonna let it all hang down, gonna let it all hang down)
After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down
(Gonna let it all hang down, gonna let it all hang down)

After Midnight is a rock song written by J.J Cale. The laidback boogie feel of "After Midnight" is a prime example of Cale's signature style. Though Cale wrote the song, it first appeared on Eric Clapton's eponymous 1970 album, and Clapton's recording remains the most well known version of the song. Cale had written the song and released a demo version in 1966. Several years later, when Clapton was preparing for his first solo album, Tulsa bassist Carl Radle, who was working with Clapton at the time, introduced him to the song. "After Midnight" was also in many ways the catalyst for Cale's own solo recording career. Cale, languishing in obscurity, was unaware of Clapton's recording of the song until it became a radio hit in 1970. Cale's friend and producer Audie Ashworth then encouraged him to capitalize on the song's success by recording a full album, Naturally, released in 1971.
In addition to Clapton, the song has been covered by Chet Atkins, The Shirelles, The Jerry Garcia Band, Phish, Sergio Mendes (who performed the song with an unusual 7/8 meter), Maggie Bell and composer Danny Elfman. Cale released a live version on the album Live in 2001.

03 Eric Clapton - Tearing Us Apart Lyrics - From the Album - 1986 - Eric Clapton - August You know the sun is shining It's raining in my heart. I don't know what to do Since we've been apart. Why don't you tell me, babe, What is going on You know I love you darling, I want to be alone. They're tearing us apart, They're breaking up my heart. 04 Eric Clapton - Bad Influence Lyrics - From the Album - 1986 - Eric Clapton - August You use me To get you anything you wanted. Oh, but I'm a changed man now, baby, And your other friend can get you what you want now. If I go through those same things again, I'll be worse off than I started. Girl, you're such a bad influence Baby you've got ways to make me do what you want. Girl, you're such a bad influence; I've got to stay away. I've been hurt in all of the worst kind of ways, And it's you pretty baby, I've just got to stay away from. I won't go through those same things again; I'm so glad that we parted. Girl, you're such a bad influence And you've got ways to make me do what you want. Little girl, you're such a bad influence; I've got to stay away. 05 Eric Clapton - Walk Away Lyrics - From the Album - 1986 - Eric Clapton - August You leave a trail of tears wherever you go. One of us will hold you, hold you, The other one won't. But I could never share your love or leave it behind. Break his heart, not mine. Do you remember Tender moments we shared How could this true affection vanish into thin air He's not worth the trouble, baby; He's just a waste of your time. Oh, break his heart, not mine. Don't you walk away, You know you're gonna miss me. Don't you walk away, You're gonna miss me, You're gonna miss my love. So don't you walk away, Don't you walk away, walk away. Don't you walk away, walk away. Musical Interlude So I'll be waiting in the backroom, baby, when you kiss him goodbye. Oh, break his heart not mine, But... Don't you walk away, You know you're gonna miss me. Don't you walk away, You're gonna miss me, You're gonna miss my love. Don't you walk away, walk away. Oh don't you walk away. I know you're gonna miss my love. Don't you walk away, walk away. Don't you walk away. You're gonna miss my love. Don't you walk away, walk away.
