Lay Down Sally
Eric Clapton Lyrics
There is nothing that is wrong
In wanting you to stay here with me
I know you've got somewhere to go
But won't you make yourself at home and stay with me?
And don't you ever leave
Lay down, Sally, and rest you in my arms
Don't you think you want someone to talk to?
Lay down, Sally, no need to leave so soon
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you
The sun ain't nearly on the rise
And we still got the moon and stars above
Underneath the velvet skies
Love is all that matters
Won't you stay with me?
And don't you ever leave
Lay down, Sally, and rest you in my arms
Don't you think you want someone to talk to?
Lay down, Sally, no need to leave so soon
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you
I long to see the morning light
Coloring your face so dreamily
So don't you go and say goodbye
You can lay your worries down and stay with me
And don't you ever leave
Lay down, Sally, and rest you in my arms
Don't you think you want someone to talk to?
Lay down, Sally, no need to leave so soon
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you
Lay down, Sally, and rest you in my arms
Don't you think you want someone to talk to?
Lay down, Sally, no need to leave so soon
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you

This song is special to me. My first real love... I remember the night. Just a date arranged by friends; nothing serious. I came back to my room and I was thrilled. I knew, but of course, she had no idea of how I felt. The great thing is that music can allow you to feel and this became my song of that night.
We later got together (I was shy and it took some time and some patience from her). Got engaged then it ran into the ground.
I left the country, got married. Got divorced. Got married. Had three lovely children. Love my wife.
Meanwhile the girl I got engaged to all those years ago got married....to Alison.
Doesn't matter,... none of it does. For me this song is the song for the night I met her. She does not even know that. For this reason it will always be special and will capture a love and a moment in time.
Sorry for boring you.
