Eros was born in the Rome suburb of Cinecittà, the son of a housepainter. He began his musical career as a teenager, when he moved to Milan. In 1984 he won the category of "New Voice" in the popular San Remo Festival for his song "Terra promessa". Eros released a series of albums in quick succession, composed of heartfelt autobiographical ballads as well as powerful rock tunes, that launched him internationally.
He has collaborated with other artists of international prominence as well. He has recorded duets with Cher and Tina Turner, to name a few.
He records every album in Spanish as well as in Italian. He is especially popular in Cuba, Germany, Mexico and Argentina, and has sold over 50 million records worldwide.
He has one daughter, Aurora Sophie (born on 5th December 1996), with his ex-wife, Michelle Hunziker, a Swiss model and television host.

In "Y Me Rebello", Eros Ramazzotti sings about feeling lost and alone without his loved one. He is tired of being bored and wishes he could find a dream to help him fall asleep. Ramazzotti acknowledges how easy it is to say things like "I lost you" but he refuses to lose himself for someone else. He admits to having the warmth of his lover's back in his hands but it slips away like water when he clenches his fist. He must survive on his own and resist the urge to be with her again. Although he knows he can exist without her, he is still struggling to cope with the heartbreak.
The singer is firm in his decision not to burn in anger or respond to her calls because he believes she has moved on and found someone else to take his place. He knows that he would have said "yes" to her if she had asked him to come back, but he cannot consent to something he does not want. Ramazzotti is stubborn and will not wait until tomorrow to speak his mind. He is committed to staying true to himself and doing what he needs to do, even if it means going against other people's wishes. He will not put conditions on his life, and he rebels against his lover.
