"Overcome" by Face to Face is a song that highlights the need to overcome one's current situation and move on towards better things. The opening lines of the song suggest that sometimes, even when we believe we are experiencing real emotions, it may still be difficult to differentiate between what's real and what's false. The next lines point out that pain cannot always be defined solely by what we feel, and it is not wrong to acknowledge and embrace our roots. The image of who we are and what we represent can be surpassed, and we can find a way to overcome whatever is holding us back.
The following lines address the struggle of fighting against oneself, especially when it comes to negativity and self-doubt. The lyrics suggest that in times of angst, people could go to great lengths to prove their point, even if it's detrimental. However, the song's concept maintains that we should hold on even when things look bleak and feel like we are wasting our time, and that it is okay to be exactly who we are. We should embrace our personality just as it is, and with dedication, we can overcome any barriers inhibiting our quality of life. The last line of the song reveals the vulnerability of the singer, admitting to letting their guard down and allowing themselves to be emotionally available to the experience of overcoming.
