The youngest of the five children of José Fares, Lebanese immigrant to Brazil, and Dona Francisca, Fagner was born in Fortaleza, the capital of the state of Ceará, although his birth was recorded in Orós.
At the age of five years he won a youth competition at a local radio station. As a teen, he formed vocal and instrumental groups and began to compose his own music. In 1968 he won the Festival de Música Popular do Ceará (Popular Music Festival of Ceará) with his song "Nada Sou" (I am Nothing).
In 1971 he moved to the capital Brasília, taking first place in the Festival de Música Popular do Centro de Estudos Universitários de Brasília (Popular Music Festival of the University Studies Center of Brasília) with his piece "Mucuripe" (with collaborator Belchior), which was later recorded by artist Elis Regina, and became Fagner's first notable success as a composer. He won prizes in other categories with additional pieces, as well.
He has had a distinguished career as a performer, singer, songwriter and composer for over 3 decades, and is also known for his collaborations with other MPB artists such as Caetano Veloso, Roberta Miranda, Chico Buarque and others.
Flor Da Paisagem

Quem vê nêo enxerga a praia
Nóis no lençol, nóis no lençol , nóis no lençol de cambraia
Teus zói no fim da vereda
Amor de papel de seda
Teus zói que clareia o roçado
Reluz teu cordão colado
Que renda branca na sala ...
Nóis no lençol, nois no lençol ...
De cambraia!
The lyrics to Fagner's "Flor Da Paisagem" are a beautiful celebration of the natural beauty of Brazil, as seen through the eyes of the singer's beloved. The first verse describes the eyes of the beloved as "the flower of the landscape" and "the serene end of the journey." This imagery suggests that the eyes of the beloved are a peaceful and alluring escape from the tumultuous world around them. The second line of the verse describes the color of the eyes as the "color of beauty" and the "smile of nature" which further emphasizes the beauty and natural qualities of the beloved.
The second verse of the song continues this celebration of the natural world, describing the singer's home on the coast of Brazil with the image of "two rare stone earrings" and a "clear water creek." The verse ends with a reference to the beauty of the beloved's eyes once again, stating that they are more beautiful than a white lace doily in the living room. The final verse describes the beloved's eyes as a beacon of light, "shining on the field" and "illuminating" everything around them. The image of the beloved's eyes as a source of light and clarity reinforces the idea that they are a calming and peaceful presence in the world around them.

Verdade!
Difícil definir algo assim.
Dor que dói sem doer!
Peito tão cheio de vazio!
Naquela data eu tinha apenas 21 anos...
Valha!
Nem vi o tempo passar, mas ele passou.
Por que tanta pressa, tempo?
