Let You Go
Ferry Corsten Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You said a lot of things that never were
For every word I hang on
You find a way to lead me on
Wasn't how it was supposed to be
But the truth is that I am more than OK who
It's not the way I thought that it would be
No no no, I rather let you go
I gotta let you go
No no no, I gotta let you go
I gotta let you go
You said I turned your light on
You said I was a fire in your life
You must have had your game on
Because I dunno where that light has gone
It wasn't how it was supposed to be
But the truth is that I am more than OK who
It's not the way I thought that it would be
But I'm feeling so much better when I say
No no no, I rather let you go
I gotta let you go
No no no, I gotta let you go
I gotta let you go
I should've have seen the signs but
Wanting you made me lose my mind
No no no, I rather let you go
I gotta let you go
No no no, I gotta let you go
I gotta let you go
The song, Let You Go by Ferry Corsten feat. Sarah Bettens, is a heart-wrenching tale of a failed relationship. The song starts off with the singer reminiscing about the promises made by the other person, promises that were never fulfilled. The lyrics, "You said you'd leave the light on. You said a lot of things that never were," suggest that the singer's trust has been broken and they feel deceived. The singer, however, still holds onto the words spoken, hoping that they would come true.
The chorus of the song, "No no no, I rather let you go. I gotta let you go," indicates that the singer has accepted the reality of the situation and has decided to let go of the other person. They acknowledge that the relationship is not what they thought it would be, but the decision to break free has made them feel better about themselves. The lyrics of the song portray the emotions of someone who has been hurt and broken, but they have finally found the courage to move on.
The line, "Wanting you made me lose my mind," shows how the singer got caught up in the idea of a perfect relationship and ignored the signs that things were not working out. The song is a reminder that sometimes letting go can be the best decision one can make.

But then you do things to keep me hoping for something that never comes
Wasn't how it was supposed to be
Our relationship was not what I thought it would be
But the truth is that I am more than OK who
However, I have come to terms with it and I am doing much better now
It's not the way I thought that it would be

But I'm feeling so much better when I say
But saying the words "I gotta let you go" brings me a sense of relief
No no no, I rather let you go
I have decided that it is better for me to let you go
I gotta let you go
I need to move on and let go
You said I turned your light on
You once said that I made your life better
You said I was a fire in your life
You claimed that I brought warmth and passion into your life
You must have had your game on
But now it seems like you were just playing games with me
Because I dunno where that light has gone
Because now, you seem to have turned away, and I don't know where the passion went
I should've have seen the signs but
I should have noticed the warning signs, but
Wanting you made me lose my mind
Being in love with you clouded my judgment
