The lyrics to Fito Páez's song Gricel speak about unrequited love or a failed relationship. The singer, perhaps regretful, acknowledges that they never should have thought about winning the heart of the person they pursued. However, they kept looking for them until they finally found them, and in doing so, the singer overwhelmed the other person with their kisses, not caring about the fact that they were a good person. It appears that the other person was in love with the singer but, unfortunately, their hopes were dashed when the singer departed, and they never saw each other again. The singer expresses their bitterness in the last verse of the song.
Towards the end of the song, the lyrics heavily emphasize the emotional and mental toll that the separation took on the singer. The singer sings about how they miss the other person's voice and the warmth of their look, and they searched for them like a crazy person. However, they never found them again, and they lost themselves in the kisses of others. It's evident that the singer cannot forget their true love or at least cannot move on.

Este famoso tango versionado por Spinetta y paez fue compuesto por José María Contursi en colaboración con el pianista Mariano Mores en el año 1942. La letra refiere al amor del letrista, llamada Susana Gricel Viganó2. Si bien Contursi estuvo casado con Alina Zárate con quien tuvo cuatro hijos; conoció a Viganó, cuya juventud y hermosura lo enamoraron.
A pesar de ello vuelve a su matrimonio dejando atrás este romance, aunque el dolor y remordimiento por este abandono lo siguieron toda su vida. Luego de años, José María enviuda y Susana es abandonada por su esposo y gracias a la ayuda de Ciriaco Ortiz en el año 1962 pueden reencontrarse. El amor se mantiene y se prolonga en el casamiento por iglesia en el año 1967 (él era viudo y ella era casada pero sólo por casamiento civil). Vivieron juntos hasta el fin de sus días.
