Already in his youth, Frans Bauer wanted to become a singer after he was inspired by Julio Iglesias, Elvis Presley and Koos Alberts (a Dutch singer). Bauer's own singing career started in 1987 when he recorded his first single, "Ben Je Jong" (Are You Young), under supervision of Dutch producers Rudi Schreijenberg and Emile Hartkamp.
In January 1992 he met his later wife-to-be, Mariska van Rossenberg. He was a local celebrity before rising to national fame due to the national television show "All You Need Is love" in early 1992, where he was to choose two female fans for a date. In 1994 he had his first national hit with "Als Sterren Aan De Hemel Staan". In 1997 he conquered Germany with his album "Weil Ich Dich Liebe".
Frans Bauer's fame kept growing to the point where he had his own reality show called "De Bauers", in which his daily life, including his family life, was followed. Bauer has also designed clothing for the Vroom & Dreesmann retail chain, based in The Netherlands.
He has won several awards and honours in The Netherlands, including a knighthood ("Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau") due to his charitable work and the "Gouden Televizier-Ring" for the reality show that has been running on Dutch television the year previously.
In 2006 he was struck by an infection on his vocal cords. He recovered after surgery.

Iedereen mag het horen
Niets om te schamen
Zo moet het zijn
De ooievaar had gekozen
Jouw wieg had geen kant en rozen
Maar een veilig bedje
Je kreeg veel liefde
Dat is met geld niet te koop
Van die twee mensen
Liefde en hoop
Zo kon je verder leven
Een ander je liefde geven
En werd je ouder
Zo moet het zijn
Het is een kringloop
Cirkels van liefde
Om door te geven
Liefde en hoop
Waar je ook bent geboren
Iedereen mag het horen
Niets om te schamen
Zo moet het zijn
The song "Waar je ook bent geboren" by Frans Bauer is about the idea that where you are born and what type of family you are born into don't define you as a person. The singer is saying that it doesn't matter if you were born into a poor family or a wealthy one, what matters most is the love and hope that you are given. The first stanza talks about how it is nothing to be ashamed of where you are born, and that everyone should be proud of their roots. The second stanza mentions that the stork (traditionally associated with bringing babies) may not have chosen the fanciest crib but that you were still given a safe place to sleep, which is what matters.
The third and fourth stanzas of the song emphasize the importance of love and hope. The singer acknowledges that money can't buy love, and that the love and hope that you receive from the people around you are what will help you succeed in life. The final stanza sums up the idea that love and hope are cyclical concepts that we are meant to pass on. The idea is that if we receive love and hope when we are born, we are then able to pass that on to others - which is the ultimate goal of life.
Overall, the song is a heartwarming reminder that no matter where we come from or how much money we have, we are all equal in the sense that we can give and receive love and hope.
