Their album "Ridin' the Tiger" in 1997, released on the White Jazz record label, marked a significant breakthrough both artistically and commercially, positioning them among the leaders of the Scandinavian hard rock movement. "Basement Apes," their fourth album, signed with Sony Music, and "Automatic Thrill" became their best-selling record.
Gluecifer performed at notable events such as the 2004 Quart Festival, opening for Monster Magnet. However, the band announced their breakup in July 2005, despite being considered one of Norway's successful rock bands. Their impact extended beyond music, with contributions to the Norwegian film "Izzat," featuring their song "Desolate City" on the 2008 compilation album "Kings of Rock - Best Of And Rarities."
Following the breakup, members pursued individual projects, including Captain Poon forming the band Bloodlights in 2006. Gluecifer's music was also featured in the soundtrack of the film "The Social Network" with the song "Black Book Lodge." In 2015, Gluecifer's studio albums were re-released on Captain Poon's label, Konkurs Productions. The following year, Captain Poon toured as the guitarist for Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg. In 2017, Gluecifer reunited for several festival appearances in 2018 and reunion shows in Oslo.

Getting cold when we suddenly meet
Must have been a couple of years
And I feel nothing but a cold cold fear
'Cause now I'm looking at a face that belonged to my brother
Looking at a shadow from my long gone past
I had written him right off told my self not to bother
That day
And now my blood runs cold in my frozen vein
I see a man that I swore I never talk to again
No way
'Cause there is nothing to say
Fightin' off a tremblin' shame
When I hear him calling out my name
And I just turn around and leave him behind
But his voice is still alive in my mind
'Cause now I'm looking at a face that belonged to my brother
Looking at a shadow from my long gone past
Written him right off told my self not to bother
But I can't, 'cause I remember that day
That day
And now my blood runs cold in my frozen vein
I see a man that I swore I'd never talk to again
No way
'Cause there is nothing to say
It's a no good meeting at a no good street
You know I just can't take it now I'm on my feet
He's dead
There's nothing left to be said
The lyrics to Gluecifer's song "Losing End" tell the story of the singer's chance encounter with someone from their past, someone whom they had written off a long time ago. The lyrics describe a feeling of fear and shame upon seeing this person again, someone who was once close to the singer but now feels like a stranger. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "now my blood runs cold in my frozen vein" to describe the intense emotional impact that this encounter has on the singer. Despite attempting to ignore this person's existence, the singer cannot help but remember the past and the significance of that day.
The lyrics to "Losing End" deal with themes of regret, personal history, and the idea of coming face-to-face with one's past. The singer's encounter with their long-lost acquaintance is a reminder of the mistakes and failures of their past, and the chorus of the song emphasizes the intense emotions that this encounter brings up. The lyrics are raw and introspective, and the music only adds to the overall feeling of vulnerability and emotional intensity. This song is a powerful expression of how the past can come back to haunt us and affect us in unexpected ways.
