A couple of deals before dawn
When the street belongs to the cop
And the janitor with the mop
And the grocery clerks are all gone
When the smell of the rain washed pavement
Comes up clean, fresh and cold
That's my time of day, my time of day
And you're the only doll
I have ever wanted to share it with me
I've never been in love before
Now all at once it's you
It's you forever more
No, I've never been in love before
I thought my heart was safe
I thought I knew the score
But this is wine and all too strange and strong
I'm full of foolish song
And out my song must pour
So please forgive this helpless haze I'm in
To see I've really never been in love before
Dion Tucker
For this is wine all too strange and strong
I'm full of foolish song
And out my song must pour
So please forgive this helpless haze I'm in
But I've really never been in love before
The song "My Time of Day/I've Never Been In Love Before" by Harry Connick Jr. is a romantic ballad that portrays a sense of longing and longing for love. In the first verse, Connick Jr. sings about his favorite time of day, when the world is still asleep and he has the streets to himself, accompanied by the smell of rain washed pavements and golden street lamps. He then compares this time of day to how he feels about the love he has found, proclaiming that the person he is singing to is "the only doll I have ever wanted to share it with me."
The second verse expresses how his newfound love has changed his life. He admits that he has never been in love before, but with this person, it has changed him entirely. He once thought his heart was safe, and he knew what to expect from life, but this newfound love is like wine - too strange and strong to ignore. He is bursting at the seams with music that he has to share with someone, and he asks for forgiveness for his helplessness.
