The lyrics to Ilegales's song "Drogas Duras Llenan Sepulturas" describe the dark and violent reality of drug addiction and its consequences. The opening lines list off a series of violent acts such as threats with a knife, rape, and arson, as well as a recent attack that resulted in one person's death and two injuries. The following lines describe the dismal conditions of prisons and the dangers of drug addiction, including the fact that "hard drugs fill graves." The chorus repeatedly reinforces this theme, warning that drug addiction can lead to death and destruction.
The second verse paints a bleak portrait of drug addiction in urban areas, describing the withered appearance of addicts and the watchful presence of police. The line "Los basureros encuentran un cuerpo" (The garbage collectors find a body) is particularly haunting, evoking the feeling that drug addiction can lead to a person being discarded and forgotten. The final lines of the verse once again highlight the dangers of drug addiction and the resulting graveyard that it creates.
The last verse suggests that the law's attempts to fight drug addiction are ineffective and often result in punishing the more disadvantaged members of society. The line "munición de emergencia para la desechable" (emergency ammunition for the disposable) conveys a sense of dehumanization and hopelessness for those who are struggling with drug addiction.
Overall, "Drogas Duras Llenan Sepulturas" is a powerful commentary on the devastating impact of drug addiction. Its uncompromising depiction of violence, death, and societal neglect serves as a warning to those who might be tempted down the path of drug use.
