Incubus is a five-man alternative rock band formed in 1991, based in Calabasas, California. Members include Brandon Boyd (vocals and percussion), Mike Einziger (guitar), Ben Kenney (bass), Jose Pasillas II (drums) and DJ Chris Kilmore (turntables). Former members of the band include Gavin Koppel (a.k.a. DJ Lyfe) (turntables) and Alex Katunich (a.k.a. Dirk Lance) (bass). The band's name may seem a peculiar choice to fans, as an incubus is a type of demon that, in mythological lore, comes in the night and has sex with women while they are sleeping; it seduces them in their dreams The story behind the name is that the band needed to think of a name hours before their first show and, after a few failed choices, Mike looked in a dictionary and chose "Incubus" almost at random. Mike says that the name was chosen because it sounded silly; Brandon holds that it was chosen because they were teenagers and the definition had the word "sex" in it. "We really didn't want to rape women in their sleep. But, we were fifteen and it seemed harmless to us then, and we never changed it," says the band.
Incubus has received both critical acclaim and commercial success, reaching multi-platinum sales, as well as releasing several successful singles. The band earned mainstream recognition with the release of their 1999 album Make Yourself. In 2001, Incubus became even more successful with the single "Drive" and their follow-up album Morning View. Their sixth studio album, Light Grenades, debuted at No. 1 in 2006 and has received Gold certification in the U.S. Incubus released their first greatest hits album Monuments and Melodies in June 2009, accompanied by a tour of the United States, Japan and Canada. The band's most recent album, 8, was released on April 21st, 2017.

Make A Move
Incubus Lyrics

For those who won't do apathy
You had the perfect opportunity
But pled the fifth and walked away
Oh, say something
Make us proud
Cast the first stone
Make a move
Make a move
For every one thing we're ignorant of
A thousand more things beat the maze, yeah
You saw the apple hanging on the tree
But missed the orchard in your gaze
Oh, say something
Make us proud
Cast the first stone
Say any, anything at all
Make a
(Hands on the eyes are the engines of demise) move
Make a move
I'm cautious of who I would call a friend
Who you acquaint is who you are
The darkest hours are when we choose a side
So make your pick and take a fall
Say something
Say anything at all
Make a
(Hands on the eyes are the engines of demise) move
Make a
(Hands on the eyes are the engines of demise) move
Make a
(Hands on the eyes are the engines of demise) move
Make a move
The lyrics of Incubus's song "Make A Move" shed light on the idea of taking action and speaking up for what you believe in. The singer seems to be frustrated with those who choose to remain apathetic and avoid taking a stand. He challenges them to say something, to cast the first stone, and to make a move. The line "hands on the eyes are the engines of demise" suggests that ignorance or choosing to turn a blind eye can be destructive.
The second verse emphasizes the importance of not only focusing on small details but also considering the bigger picture. The imagery of an apple hanging on a tree represents a small aspect of a larger orchard, and the singer urges the listener not to miss out on the broader scope. The final verse speaks of the need to be cautious about who one associates with, as it reflects who they are as a person. It emphasizes that one needs to take a stand and be willing to face the consequences of their choices.
Overall, "Make A Move" encourages the listener to be active, voice their opinions, and take a stand for what they believe in. By doing so, they can make a difference and help bring about change.
