RAINBOW
Jack Johnson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A rainbow filled the sky
Yes I woke up this morning
A rainbow filled the sky
That was god telling me
Everything's gonna be alright
We so long good friends
I said so long good friends
When will we meet again?
Well I don't know, I don't know
But I guess I'll see you then
Well I'm gonna pack my old guitar
Move on down the road
I'm gonna pack my old guitar, now
Move on down the road (where are you gonna go?)
Oh, where I go I don't know
But I guess I got's to go
Well I woke up this morning
A rainbow filled the sky
Well I woke up this morning
A rainbow filled the sky
That was god telling me
Everything, everything's gonna be alright
The song "Rainbow" by Jack Johnson is a heartfelt and optimistic tune that speaks of hope and resilience in the face of uncertainty. The opening line, "Well I woke up this morning, a rainbow filled the sky," sets the tone for the entire song, as the singer wakes up to the sight of a beautiful rainbow, which he interprets as a sign from God that everything is going to be alright. Throughout the song, the singer expresses a desire to leave his current situation and move on down the road, while acknowledging that he does not know exactly where he is going or when he will return. However, he remains hopeful and confident that he will see his friends again and that he will find his way in the end.
At its core, "Rainbow" is a song about the power of hope to carry us through difficult times. The rainbow serves as a symbol of this hope, reminding us that even when things seem bleak, there is always the possibility of something better. Johnson's soothing voice and gentle acoustic guitar playing add to the song's comforting and uplifting vibe, making it the perfect tune to lift your spirits on a bad day.
