Granada
Javier Solís Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Granada, tierra soñada por mí,
mi cantar se vuelve gitano
cuando es para ti.
Mi cantar, hecho de fantasía,
mi cantar, flor de melancolía,
que yo te vengo a dar.

Granada tierra ensangrentada en tardes de toros,
mujer que conserva el embrujo de los ojos moros;

Overall Meaning

In the song "Granada", Javier Solís sings about the Spanish city of Granada, which is a place he has always dreamt of visiting. He starts by saying that when he sings about Granada, he can feel his style turning Gypsy. His singing is full of fantasy and melancholy, which is what he says his heart brings to the city. He is referring to the deep connection he feels towards Granada, and how his emotions reflect in his singing when he thinks about it.

Solís also talks about how Granada, the land of bullfighting, has been soaked in bloodshed from the bullfights, yet there is still something enchanting about the city that he finds hard to resist. He sings about a rebellious and Gypsy-like woman, covered in flowers, who still holds the charm of the Moorish eyes of old. He speaks about kissing her lips, the color of pomegranates (Granada), likening them to juicy apples that speak of love.

Towards the end of the song, Solís sings about Granada being filled with beautiful women, as well as the vibrancy of life and the warmth of the sun. Through his lyrics, Solís portrays Granada as a place of mystery, passion, and beauty that captivates the heart and soul of anyone who experiences it.
