When singer Bettina Mischke and keyboard player Roland Grosch decided to found Jazzamor in 2001 they perhaps did not imagine that their minimalistic lounge arrangements would take off so quickly. Two albums in three years have highlighted their productivity as they firm out their smoothe 60s jazzy sounds in Europe's main languages. The albums' commercial success have decided the pair on plunging into the live circuit with the same passion they brought to their recordings.
In 2006 they released their third studio album "Travel... (In Order Not To Arrive)". A trip around the world in music. Each song is placed at a special setting in the world. Sometimes it's the language, other times it's an instrument, a rhythm or a story that brings us on a journey to a distant country or a city. Sometimes it's just a wishful dream, other times tales of being there.

Travel in Order Not to Arrive

(Scotsdale/Arizona)
Situations come and go
You look to find try to grow
Hey you're caught up deep inside
You walk in space and want to flow
You travel in order not to arrive
Stations on an endless road
Bags and bags that feel like stone
Hey you'll leave them all behind
Another place, another break
Throw away the heavy weight
You travel and wish that you had a ride
What will you need when you're done
The old the new you can't judge
Why is so much on your mind
Suddenly the current calls
Raging to a waterfall
Hey - you don't want to dive
Cuz you travel in order not to arrive
You travel in order not to arrive
You travel in order not to arrive
The lyrics of Jazzamor's song "Travel in Order Not to Arrive" are a reflection of the modern trend of seeking escape in the process and journey more than the destination itself. The song speaks to the need that we humans have to get away from the mundane, the repetitive, the familiar, and the comfortable, and to explore new and unknown territories. It is about the longing for growth and progress, and the urge to discover and experience new things.
The opening lines "Situations come and go, you look to find try to grow, hey you're caught up deep inside" speak to the restlessness of the soul and the desire to break free from the constraints of routine and predictability. The next lines "You walk in space and want to flow, want to move but you didn't know, you travel in order not to arrive" express the readiness to embrace the unknown path, not for the sake of reaching a specific destination, but for the journey itself.
"Stations on an endless road, bags and bags that feel like stone, hey you'll leave them all behind" describes the feeling of carrying a heavy emotional load and the willingness to let go of the unnecessary baggage. In the next lines, "another place, another break, throw away the heavy weight, you travel and wish that you had a ride," the song implies that we yearn to be free to move without any encumbrances and to experience new surroundings.
"What will you need when you're done, the old the new you can't judge, why is so much on your mind" indicates that there is always a degree of uncertainty that accompanies the journey, and the questioning of the consequences of the experience. Finally, the last lines "Suddenly the current calls, raging to a waterfall, hey - you don't want to dive, cuz you travel in order not to arrive," point to the potential dangers and pitfalls that come with exploring the unknown, and the need to be prepared and cautious.
Overall, "Travel in Order Not to Arrive" encourages us to seek out new experiences and grow from them, without being too concerned with where these experiences take us or hold us back.
