Jimmie Rodgers Last Yodel
Jimmie Rodgers Lyrics

Well, I love the women
And I love them all the same
I love the women
And I love them all the same
I love the women
But not enough to give them my name

These women make a fool
Out of me, Lord out of me
I take a girl to dinner
She hangs around my neck
When I take a girl to dinner, Lord
She hangs around my neck she pays the taxi
Also pays my check

These women make a fool
Out of me, Lord out of me

Well, she rubs my back with alcohol
Just to cure my cough
Well, she rubs my back with alcohol
Just to cure my cough
Well, I almost broke my back
Trying to lick the alcohol off

These women make a fool
Out of me, Lord out of me

I love Jimmy's songs he deserves to be remembered

Brushstroke

I always feel like I'm sitting out on the porch enjoying the summer twilight when I listen to Jimmie Rodgers. This is one of my favorites. I recorded a cover version, please check it out:

I also recorded another version with a few lyrical changes and called it "Pizza Fool Yodel." You can check it out here:

Bought my first Jimmie Rodgers 78 rpm records in the salvation army record bin, Port Chester NY 1961. Also bought a recording of Vernon Dalhart singing Lucky Lindy. Somebody got rid of gold and I bought them all for a nickel a piece. Still have those records. Still play them..... It was Merle Haggards 2 record set. 'Same train, Different time' that put Jimmie back on top as the father of country music. Thank you, Merle and thank you, Jimmie. No body will ever put a song across like you guys did.

If a person is going to immulate The Singing Brakeman, they don't necessarily have to yodel well, or yodel at all. They don't even have to sing just like him. BUT, they better be able to play a guitar like he could.

Growing up the album Doggystyle was the closest thing we had to Jimmie Rodgers. Something tells me Snoop would love this. Perhaps he does, perhaps Willie's put it on when they've hung out.

I could see it! Jimmie was basically rapping and a gangster before Snoop
