Modern gamers most likely don't know who this man is, hell, even most Battlefield players have forgotten his name.
But they all know your work.
Whether they heard it in the original game, or a YouTube video, or a part of it in a trailer, or if the first time they ever heard it was in Battlefield 4, virtually everyone who has played an FPS game knows this theme; it stands alongside Halo as one of the most iconic from the last three generations of gaming at least.

However I know the theme from one game in particular, and it's the only game I'll ever think about when I hear this tune;
Battlefield 1942.
I have been whistling, humming and tapping to this theme, for literally three quarters of my life, and to this day... I still can't get it out of my fucking head

Thank you for creating one of the most memorable and annoyingly catchy themes of all time.
Also, for the record since probably nobody else remembers them, I'd just like to also thank you for the other scores in Battlefield 1942 - particularly the menu music, which I swear is still quietly looping somewhere, deep in the back of my mind.

Used to absolutely TORMENT my big brother to let me see him play this..

Just every day I saw/heard him play, I begged to watch.

Few times I was managed, this theme was playing every so often..

One day, he finally gave in, he gave me his BF1942 to play, since I clearly enjoyed it..

Ever since, this has followed me everywhere, even one of the first things I did to improve my 'guitar ear', was to play this track. First the melody, then the rhythm section..

And I still rock out to this song at times, for good times sake.

@Joel Eriksson aka JOL I just wanna say something to you too.....thank you. I was a lonely kid back-in-the-day that had interest only on cars and driving games. One classmate of mine once invited me to his home with few others, where we played the original Battlefield 1942. At that day i realized that i was pretty good in FPS shooting games and my (new) friends think'd the same. The same day i had new friends and i wasn't lonely anymore.

But, i don't remember anything specific about that day, except this theme. And this theme brings up the memories. I have kids of my own now and every now-and-then they ask me "dad, what is that song that you are constantly whistling??? Sounds like a war-related song". Really, thank you for this absolute masterpiece.

Too impressive, too sensual, too glorious, so heroical. I can't describe these emotions with words. When I was young, I started playing Battlefield 1942 and then other BF games followed this childhood session. In almost every BF game this song emerged differently and I got goosebumps. Now I see that legendary composer of this awesome song recomposing after 20 years. We grow up too much in 20 years. I feel honored because my childhood intersected with the first Battlefield games and this song. Thank you Joel Eriksson for beautifying my vita.

My dad got Battlefield: 1942 in 2002 when I was 4 years old, and it is one of the earliest games I can remember playing. That was one game that we could always play together, and we both adored the soundtrack. Your music always got me hyped up as a kid, and it still hypes me up to this day. We would hang out on the main menu for a few minutes before playing a match just so we could listen to "Slaughter" to get ourselves pumped up for the game (by the way, a remake of that piece at some point would be awesome, but its all good if you don't want to). I am glad that I stumbled across this amazing remake of the original theme. Here's to you and your amazing work, Joel!

Thanks. It was a pretty sudden idea and was fun to revisit this track. Then it felt a bit hard to really make it like the original. Found myself competing with myself 20 years back.

I didn't find any vinyl version of this song. Am I looking wrong on Discogs or is there really no release for this epic piece of music history? If not, am I allowed to press my own unique one Joel? Thanks for that masterpiece!

Edit : am looking for the original 1942 version. I did find some of the "newer" versions. But would love to have that one on a 7"
