With nothing good or bad just one
We have been strangers for a very long time
We have watched and we have tried
And now I need this
Know this taste this want this...
So swell the black sails with wind
This is the line that will fall
Now that there's nothing left
That can shut you down
It doesn't take much to break
A life beyond the things you live for
Into a place where you have all that it takes
We have watched and we have tried
And now I need this
Know this taste this want this...
So swell the black sails with wind
And let me reap my rewards and start again
Swell the black sails with wind
And let me reap my rewards and start again
This is the line that will fall
Now that there's nothing left
That can shut you down
[Repeat: x4]
You will reap just what you sow
So swell the black sails with wind
And let me reap my rewards and start again
So swell the black sails with wind
And let me reap my rewards and start again
And let me reap my rewards and start again
Let me reap my rewards and start again
Let me reap my rewards and start again
Let me reap my rewards and start again
The opening lines of Joydrop's song "Line" suggest a feeling of timelessness, where everything exists in a single, non-judgmental moment. The singer of the lyrics finds themselves in this state, having been strangers for a long time, and having watched and tried. Their desire for something new, something to experience, builds to a peak in the chorus where they ask for the black sails to be swelled with wind, so they can reap their rewards and start again. The line that once held them back from this experience has fallen away, and there is nothing left to shut them down.
The repeated chorus emphasizes the idea of reaping what one sows, suggesting that the singer has put in the work to reach this moment of release and renewal. The song's themes may suggest a kind of personal or emotional rebirth, where the singer has left behind old ways of thinking and perceiving the world to welcome in a new, more open way of being.

The bass on this song is awesome. Well, I mean, everything about it is awesome, but the bass is just mesmerising.
