Her talents were brought to light due to her parents' encouragement, who were artists themselves. Her father was a director and reproduced Fairouz's plays. Her mother had an excellent voice, and her brother Ziad Boutros is a composer and a musician. He accompanied her throughout her musical career. He also composed almost all of her songs.
Julia and her brother were influenced by Ziad Rahbani's works. Her brother Ziad is the closest person to her, as a brother and as a composer. When she was 17 years, she sung her most influential song "Ghabet Shams Al Hak". She got married in 1996 to Elias Abo Sa'eb; the vice president of the American University of Dubai. In 1997, she had her first baby Samer.
Her hobbies include: swimming, tennis, and listening to the Blues; she also likes French fashion.
October 11, 2006, Julia announced a new single album called "Ahibaii" (My loved ones). The lyrics are based on a letter sent by Hizbollah secretary general Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah to the fighters in South Lebanon during July 12 2006 Lebanon-Israel conflict. The poet Ghassan Matar adapted the original text. The music is composed by Ziad, brother of Julia and arranged by Michel Fadel. The profits of sale are to help the families of Lebanese soldiers who died during the Israel-Lebanon conflict.

These lyrics are from Julia Boutros's song "Shou Zghir Ya Omy El Haky" which translates to "What Can I Say, Oh Mother?" in English. The song is about a daughter who wants to express her love and appreciation for her mother but finds it difficult to put her emotions into words and ends up getting emotional. The daughter talks about how her love for her mother is bigger than words. She compares herself to a child wanting to talk about herself and express her feelings but unable to articulate them fluently. She feels overwhelmed by her mother's love and finds it hard to express herself. The daughter tells her mother that she hides her feelings and that she's always available for her.
Boutros's vocals in this song are moving, and the lyrics and melody are both powerful. The song has a nostalgic feel with Arabic cultural themes. It captures the struggle that some people face when trying to express their love for someone they care about deeply. It acts as a reminder to cherish the person while you have them and to express your love and appreciation for them while you still can.

Sometimes I want to speak
And keep a long conversation hidden for you
And wait for your heart to open up while remaining concealed
So the conversation escapes, oh my mom
I won't say how much I love you
Between tears and laughter
Like a little girl who wants to talk
Talking about herself with her hands and the twinkle in her eyes
I am that little girl before you, longing for warmth from your days
