Fowler put together a country band in 1998 and began playing Tuesday nights at Babe's on Sixth Street in Austin. Within two years, he'd begun recording albums and struck big with his self-released Beer, Bait and Ammo (2000). The album sold around 30,000 copies in the Texas area and garnered an impressive amount of airplay, particularly for the album's title track. The song became somewhat of a Texas anthem; Mark Chesnutt made the song part of his live show, and Sammy Kershaw recorded it. Fowler returned in 2002 with his third album, High on the Hog, and boasted some impressive guests, including Willie Nelson and David Lee Garza.

Oh, down beside that red fire light
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round
I was just a skinny lad
Never knew no good from bad
I knew life before I left my nursery
She was such a naughty nanny
Big woman, you made a bad boy out of me
C'mon!
Are you gonna take me home tonight
Oh, down beside that red fire light
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round
I've been singing with my band
Across the wire, across the land
I've seen every blue eyed floozy along the way
But their beauty and their style
Went kind of smooth after awhile
Take me to them naughty ladies every time
Are you gonna take me home tonight
Oh, down beside that red fire light
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round
Get on your backs and ride, now
Hey, listen here!
I've got mortgages on homes
I've got stiffness in my bones
Ain't no beauty queens in this locality
But I still got my pleasure
Still got my greatest treasure
Heap big woman, you made a big man out of me
C'mon!
Are you gonna take me home tonight
Oh, down beside that red fire light
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round
Yeah, fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round
Are you gonna take me home tonight
Oh, down beside that red fire light
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round
In Kevin Fowler's song "Fat Bottom Girls," the singer is asking a woman if she will take him home and let loose, in the company of what the singer calls "fat bottomed girls" who make the world rock. The lyrics suggest that the singer has lived a wild and carefree life, with references to his time singing with a band and his encounters with women across the country. The line "left alone with big, fat Fanny / She was such a naughty nanny" may be a reference to the song "Nanny Goat" by Larry Marshall, which also uses the term "naughty nanny" to describe a woman.
Throughout the song, the singer praises the women he calls "fat bottomed girls," describing them as the ones who truly make the world go 'round. He contrasts these women with the "blue-eyed floozies" with whom he has spent time, who eventually lost their appeal to him. The repeated refrain of "fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round" drives home the message that these women hold a special power and importance in the world.
Overall, the song seems to celebrate a certain kind of woman who is confident, assertive, and unapologetically herself. The singer clearly finds these qualities attractive and enjoys being in the presence of women who embody them.
