El Curso De La Vida
Lara Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Con un ojo duerme el mundo
Porqué el otro me lo guiña.
Y aunque mi madre me riña
The lyrics in Lara's song El Curso De La Vida (The Course of Life) talk about the duality of being a woman and a child, as well as the passing of time and the lessons learned in life. The first lines describe the main character as half woman and half child, with one eye closed (asleep) and the other winking. This highlights the idea that we are all a mix of our grown-up and child selves, and that we should listen to both parts of ourselves. The line "and although my mother scolds me, she won't be able to change my course" suggests that the character has her own path to follow, and that she will make decisions based on her own desires and beliefs.
The chorus speaks of the passing of time and the changing of seasons, and how although the years may change, there are certain things that remain constant within us. The line "what I found in my veins will stay on my lips" suggests that the things we hold dear, our passions and dreams, will always be a part of us, no matter what happens in life. The verse about the teacher in class teaching about solving problems in the game of love shows that even in formal education, there are lessons to be learned about relationships and heartbreak, and that sometimes one must take risks in love. Finally, the song ends with the idea that even though life might be tough, there is always hope for a better tomorrow.
