Des shooters de fort sur ton bras
Les soeurs Boulay Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Ah ah ah ah...
Du sud au nord
Montréal s’envoie en l'air
Ouh ouh ouh ouh
Va donc savoir
Les mauvais coups que j'vais faire
Oh oh oh oh
Y a dans mon corps
Comme un grand puits de lumière
Ah ah ah ah
Et plus jamais
Ne rentrera quelqu'un comme toi
Y f'ra pu noir
Fais c'que tu voudras
Moi, j'm'en vas boire
Des shooters de fort
Pis sur ton bras, ah ah ah ah ah ah
Ah ah ah ah...
The lyrics to Les soeurs Boulay's song "Des shooters de fort sur ton bras" tell a story of moving on from a failed relationship and seeking solace in self-destructive behavior. The singer expresses a state of emotional disarray and dissatisfaction with the way things ended, as they haven't properly resolved their feelings or left a note behind. However, they find some temporary relief in the form of a few dollars, which they use to buy strong shots of alcohol.
The chorus emphasizes this escapism, as the singer decides to indulge in excessive drinking and lean on someone's arm for support, symbolizing a temporary distraction from their pain. They portray a rebellious attitude towards their circumstances, determined to live their life as they please without any regard for consequences. The mention of Montreal and its reputation for promiscuity suggests that the singer may be seeking temporary romantic encounters to numb their emotions further.
The final lines convey a sense of empowerment and closure, as the singer declares that no one like their former partner will ever enter their life again. They assert their independence and freedom to do as they wish, detached from any need for validation or reconciliation. Ultimately, the song explores the themes of self-destruction, temporary comfort, and the process of moving on from a failed relationship.
