For several years they toured, both solo and together, as choir members before they decided to team up as a duo. After this decision, things took off quickly with an EP in February 2012 and winning awards at the Francouvertes.
Since then they have performed at various festivals and won other prestigious awards, like the "best new artist" at the GAMIQ's.
Their album, "Le Poids des Confettis", was released in March of 2013 and quickly gained popularity and awards, including "Revelation of the year" and "Best folk album" along with several other nominations.

Langue de bois
Les soeurs Boulay Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Forgive me I’m sorry
Laissez-moi ici
Je prendrai un taxi
J’ai le cœur cassé
Je dis toujours merci
I’m quiet I’m easy
J’voudrais pas déranger
J’ai fermé ma bouche
But your eyes were sassy
Que vos doigts me touchent
Et couvrent l’éclaircie
J’ai le cœur cassé Si ma tête est messy
I’m quiet I’m easy
J’voudrais pas déranger
J’ai envie de crier
Nanananana
Mais ma langue de bois
Nananana
Je la tourne cent fois
Si l’cadenas peut sauter
Vous allez y goûter
Vous avez prévu
Un beau closed house party
Vous avez tous bu
Aux larmes martini
De mon cœur cassé
Vous l’avez bien farci
I’m quiet I’m easy
Vous pouvez disposer
J’ai envie de crier
Nanananana
Mais ma langue de bois
Nananana
Je la tourne cent fois
Si l’cadenas peut sauter
Vous allez y goûter
The lyrics to "Langue de bois" by Les sœurs Boulay depict a person who has been hurt and is trying to protect themselves from further pain by remaining silent. The repetition of phrases like "I’m quiet I’m easy" and "J’voudrais pas déranger" (I don’t want to bother) suggests a desire to avoid confrontation and maintain a facade of compliance. Despite their heart being broken, they continue to express gratitude and apologize, possibly indicating a tendency to blame themselves or take on the burden of others' actions.
The metaphor of a "langue de bois" (wooden tongue) represents the person's difficulty in expressing their true emotions and standing up for themselves. They desperately want to scream and release their pent-up frustrations, but feel as though their words are trapped behind a locked door. The line "Je la tourne cent fois, Si l’cadenas peut sauter, Vous allez y goûter" (I turn it a hundred times, If the lock can jump, You will taste it) suggests a mounting determination to break free from this silence and make their voice heard.
Overall, "Langue de bois" captures the internal struggle of someone who is torn between their desire to assert themselves and their fear of causing further harm or conflict. It highlights the importance of finding a balance between speaking up and holding back, as well as the potential consequences of suppressing one's true feelings.
