The lyrics of Los Pericos's song "Más Cerca Del Cielo" reflect on an individual's path towards redemption and salvation. The song describes this journey through various acts of devotion such as praying, seeking penance at the altar, and writing prayers that bare one's soul. The singer yearns to transcend earthly woes and reach a higher state of being, symbolized by the imagery of angelic wings and soaring above the ground.
The chorus "mas cerca del Cielo" ("closer to Heaven") serves as both a mantra and a reminder of the song's ultimate message. It suggests that reaching a higher state of consciousness or spirituality is possible and within reach if one is willing to strive for it. The song's lyrics invite reflection on the idea that human struggles and suffering can be transcended if we let go of worldly pursuits and embrace a more spiritual existence.
