Wait.
M83 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Set your dreams where nobody hides
Give your tears to the tide
No time
No time

There's no end, there is no goodbye
Disappear with night
No time
No time
No time

No time
No time

Overall Meaning

M83's song Wait is a melancholic and emotional track that is open to interpretation, but on a surface level, it seems to be about letting go of the past and living in the moment. The opening lines "Set your dreams where nobody hides, give your tears to the tide" suggest that one should not hide their dreams or emotions but let them rise to the surface and be accepted. The line "Give your tears to the tide" is a metaphor for letting go of past sadness or regrets and allowing them to be washed away.

The repeated phrase "No time" creates a sense of urgency and a reminder that life is brief and fleeting. The lyrics "There's no end, there is no goodbye, disappear with the night" continue the theme of impermanence and emphasize that everything eventually fades away.

Overall, the song's lyrics suggest a message of acceptance and living in the present moment instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. It encourages listeners to embrace the finite nature of life and make the most of the time they have.

man...
how tired were we from this world,
how tired were we from each other,
how much did we want to travel the world,
how much did we want to live in the peaceful world of our childhood dreams,
how hard was it to love,
how hard was it to live in a cycle of study, money, live, pay, earn, eat, and sleep,
we all live in different places, yet this 6 minute long songs connects us somehow spiritually...
man... how much do I want to go back to my childhood..
but I know that I have to carry on and cherish everything

When emptiness, longing and sadness have run their course, only love remains. This overwhelming love will equally make you sob yet this sobbing leaves you not empty but breathes life, gratitude and joy into your very being.

Love, now there's a strange thing.

"and though I pour an ocean of words upon you, it profit you not, for love is the answer to all the questions you have and all the questions you have not yet pondered"

Much love to you.

Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved

It's always love

Ayah, most people do feel lost and alone. And most people from day to day are not buffeted by the winds of life. They are buffeted by the tumultuous nature of other people. Everyone is adrift and for the most part equally untethered to any kind of faith within themselves.  And that is ok 😊 your ok. She. You find that one intuition.. that one thread of synchronicitity inside of yourself, when you realize that it's not manifesting or synchronicity at all. But just a feeling. A feeling of knowing.

That one feeling is with you underneath all of the anxiety and fear of other people... You realize so much of what your feeling is not your feelings at all. They are reverberations and echos of someone else's mental and emotional tides.  Your just an antenna. But somewhere inside of you is 💯 an understanding. It's not a purpose or a mission or anything to do with the material work. It's a starting point of your own personal faith. In that moment you are untouchable and you are the anchor.  It's so hard to articulate that knowing, but it's love and ambition and letting go until death all rolled into one. In between the spaces of other people's reactions to you being completely calm you'll see how much life you are really living. And your purpose is not about anything you've been told or values that the world seems important. Your value comes from holding onto that knowing and feeling it, walking it and standing in it in the midst of the world. God depends on it. It is the essence of faith

It is a very lonely place.  Love

True Love that's never tainted or manipulated or corrupted steps into that.  No need to win your agenda or prove a point or manipulate someone else. You are the agenda and just by being aligned with that very tiny seemingly insignificant knowing inside of yourself you anchor yourself in faith and the whole universe is quantamly emeshed with God's plan for you. Without a word the whole of the world's historical reality and it's epigenetic lineage is bound to every manifest thought you have.

The loneliness comes from the need of two people to join together in faith.. for something to endure in the world it takes two. And a cord of three is very difficult to break.  You'll find your place soon enough.

This song makes me remember my friends Sheila and Tim. The year I met them was the best year of my life. They showed me understanding and just how much people could care. I'd come from a life of being bullied and abused and put down for 16 years so meeting people who cared as much as they did really turned my life around.

Sheila was Tim's mom and the most caring soul you'd have the pleasure of knowing - an angel on earth. We'd sit and talk over coffee for hours at a time.

Tim was an incredibly smart person. An iq of around 160..graduated high school at 15 and into college right away. He had a really hard time feeling like he fit in with his peers and people always say that the smartest people do.

A couple years after I moved back to Canada, there was talks of him getting into hard drugs. Heroin.

I got a message one day a few years ago that he had overdosed and passed away.

Just over a year later, Sheila overdosed on pills because she couldn't stand not having her son with her.

Before she died, she made me promise that I would tell people about Tim so here I am telling you. So you know the world had these wonderful, beautiful souls that went away far too soon.

I don't know you but I love you.

Try to be strong. And remember the names Sheila and Timothy.
