I'm Falling In Love With Someone
Mario Lanza Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Falling in love with love is falling for make-believe
Falling in love with love is playing the fool
Caring too much in such a juvenile fancy
Learning to trust is just for children in school

I fell in love with love one night when the moon was full
I was unwise with eyes unable to see
I fell in love with love, with love everlasting
But love fell out with me

I fell in love with love one night when the moon was full
I was unwise with eyes unable to see

I fell in love with love, with love everlasting
But love fell out with me

Overall Meaning

Mario Lanza's song "So In Love" is a classic love song that discusses the dangers of falling in love with love instead of a person. The opening lines criticize the idea of falling for make-believe and playing the fool, suggesting that caring too much about the superficial aspects of love is like being a juvenile. The lyrics go on to explain that learning to trust is a skill for children in school, meaning that trusting your heart to love can be naive and foolish.

The second verse introduces the singer's personal experience of falling in love with love, describing a moment when the moon was full and his eyes were unwise. He fell for the idea of love that is everlasting but ultimately was rejected by this ideal. The overall message of the song is that love is not a game to be played, but a serious commitment that requires trust, honesty, and genuine connection.

Overall, "So In Love" is a powerful reminder of the importance of meaningful relationships that go beyond the superficial aspects of love. It encourages listeners to avoid falling for the idea of love and instead focus on building meaningful connections with the people who matter most.

This was the Royal Albert Hall performance Mario's voice was at his best that year he was and probably still is the greatest natural voice there's ever been.

@ronaldo190172

Nope, it was the Saturday Night Spectacular show. But yes, I agree, greatest natural voice ever x

@irinakuzmishina6099

It must be a part of Saturday Night Spectacular , UK, 18.01.1958

@ns1official

Thank you Irina. Mario sounded spectacular here.

@petergroverd6626

I agree with you on that. The Albert Hall recording does not have all the pips and wobbly bits. The applause is a studio audience . The sound from the Albert hall recording is more laboured from Lanza all be it very nice. Well spotted.
