Mia was born in 1947 in Bagnara Calabra (province of Reggio Calabria, southern Italy), but soon she moved to Rome with her sister (Loredana Bertè) and her friend Renato Zero. Both of them would eventually become successful singers too.
She recorded her first records as Mimì Bertè, but she soon decided to change her name to the more appealing Mia Martini.
Her biggest hits were "Piccolo Uomo", which was recorded in several languages, "Almeno tu nell'universo", which is considered her masterpiece and has been covered by several famous Italian singers including Mina and Elisa, and "Minuetto" among many others.
She represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest twice: in 1977 with "Libera (song)" (13th out of 18), and in 1992 with "Rapsodia" (4th out of 23).
Her career ended tragically in 1995 when she was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her apartment at Cardano al Campo, near Milan.

Gente distratta
Mia Martini Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Che non riesci a mandar giù
Il mare oggi
È proprio un olio blu
Ma qui nessuno ti ha perdonata
Quando da casa te ne sei andata
Quanti progetti in mente
Poi finire a guardare il cielo
Sognando
Crescendo
Correndo
Ti prendo
Gente distratta che viene e va
Che cosa resta del passato
Forse una 500 blu
E un giradischi rovinato
Che ormai non va più
Tuo padre non ti ha mai parlato
Per questo forse l'hai odiato
I grandi hanno sempre da fare
E adesso cerchi un figlio per parlare
Amando
Sognando
Crescendo
Correndo
Ti prendo
Gente distratta che viene e va
In Mia Martini's song "Gente distratta," the lyrics explore the themes of nostalgia, regret, and the passage of time. The opening line "Che cosa resta del passato" (What remains of the past) speaks to the song's overarching sentiment, as the singer reflects on memories that they cannot quite digest. The image of the sea as "proprio un olio blu" (just a blue oil) suggests a lack of depth, as if the memories are slick and hard to grasp. The song then shifts to a condemnation of those who have not forgiven the singer for leaving home, perhaps a commentary on societal pressures to conform and stay in one place.
The verses then move on to more personal reflections, as the singer reminisces on "quanti progetti in mente" (how many plans in mind) and the realization that they have ended up just "finire a guardare il cielo" (ending up staring at the sky). The repetition of "amando, sognando, crescendo, correndo" (loving, dreaming, growing, running) creates a sense of yearning for something more, while the line "Ti prendo, gente distratta che viene e va" (I take you, distracted people who come and go) suggests a desire for connection and presence in a world that can be fleeting and ephemeral.
Overall, Mia Martini's "Gente distratta" is a poignant exploration of the ways in which time and circumstance can leave us feeling lost and disconnected, yet ultimately striving for human connection and understanding.

direi che va bene , molto merito all'arrangiamento e all'esecuzione dei musicisti .

Difficile imitare Pino...
Ma La Martini non si discute eh!!
