Revival
Orgy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You scavenge find what makes you
Supreme in design
Accuse you 'cause they had the fun
So differently divine
When my mind goes override
It's so typical to capture anonymity
I choose the crowd to divide
so you see I try I cannot ever displace
You see I'm jaded at times from nowhere leaving this place
So you see me die right in front of your face
You see I'm jaded at times from nowhere leaving this place
They made us with a tool
Then they taught us how to live
We met the candyman
He filled us with his contraband
Then they scared us all away
While your visting your bubble of reality
Salivating at the sound of the bells
I'll be seducing you through your confession
They've been the ones you've known forever
Someone's been lied to with all the rage Caught us dismal
at times we've known forever
And so you see I try I cannot ever displace
You see I'm jaded at times from nowhere leaving this place
So you see me die right in front of your face
You see I'm jaded at times from nowhere leaving this place
You've been denied of supervision
Just a test tube life away
How could you make believe that we've grown through circumcision
When it's right here next to me
Friendships change to time
They'd never let us leave
You took your time so too late
Missing what you've never had
I'll be the only one that knows just how we've been abused
And so you see I try I cannot ever displace
You see I'm jaded at times from nowhere leaving this place
So you see me die right in front of your face
You see I'm jaded at times from nowhere leaving this place
The lyrics to Orgy's song Revival are quite complex and open to multiple interpretations. One way to look at it is through the lens of societal conformity and the individual's struggle to break free from it. The song seems to be directed towards those who blindly follow societal norms, without questioning them or seeking their own truth. The opening lines - "So what's with your kind, You scavenge find what makes you Supreme in design" - seem to critique those who believe that they are superior just because they conform to societal expectations.
The lyrics then take on an introspective tone, with the singer acknowledging their own struggles with conformity and the pressure to fit in - "When my mind goes override, It's so typical to capture anonymity, I choose the crowd to divide". The chorus then repeats the lines "You see I'm jaded at times from nowhere leaving this place," which could be interpreted as the singer feeling disillusioned by the society they live in and the struggle to break free from it.
The next verse talks about how society has molded us into what we are today, through tools and education, but also how we have been misled and manipulated by those in power - "Someone's been lied to with all the rage Caught us dismal at times we've known forever". The song seems to end on a note of defiance, with the singer proclaiming to be the only one who knows the truth and has been abused by society - "I'll be the only one that knows just how we've been abused".

Hey Jay Gordon! I've been a fan yours, since you debuted with your cover of Joy Division/New Order's "Blue Monday" in '98, when I was only 16. 😍
Literally a quarter century later, your cover remains to be my favorite version.🤭
Also, I'm an Old School KoRn Kid from '94 and aired both your bands on my college radio show, when I was a DJ 20 years ago!
Speaking of Orgy and KoRn, how'd you feel if I told you that I physically modeled my protagonist, Dr. Woody Johnson after YOU with SOME of Jonathan Davis' freaky personality and dark past?😉
I suspect that some Horror publishers can't handle my Short Horror Story and reject it because it's too realistic and grisly for their agenda(s).
Anyway, Orgy still sounds fantastic live!🤘🤘

These guys made some solid tunes. They should've had a longer shelf life as a band.

MrFunkE101 You also have to remember that Orgy was pretty unknown at this time... most people there had no idea who the hell they were.

to date, Orgy has been my top live show, and I've been to a TON of shows. Orangevale Boardwalk 2003/4 I think?

Well, eight years later I seem to come across to the actual full concert on the "Hard Rock on MV", last song was Revival... and what the hell, the version I am commenting right now is HIGHLY edited. VERY VERY edited. It actually got me by surprise... I always knew this version... Check it out. Yikes. (Not that good live).
