Kaas is currently on a world tour since the end of 2008 to promote her latest album kabaret. She represented France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow, Russia and finished 8th with the song et s'il fallait le faire. The song received positive reviews in several newspapers and polls and a clear majority of 62% of all voters in a questionnaire believed in her chances to win the competition.

The lyrics of Patricia Kaas's song Et S'Il Fallait Le Faire speak of the lengths that the singer would go to for the person she loves. The title translates to "If it Needed to be Done," and the opening lines declare that the singer would stop the Earth from turning and even extinguish the light if it meant that the person she loves could sleep peacefully. The lyrics continue to express that she would create a sea in a lifeless desert and even stop the rain if it meant pleasing her loved one.
The singer also declares that she would listen to her beloved every night, especially when the topic is love, and express her feelings as well. Kaas then sings about her desire to keep her loved one's fire burning while holding onto them tightly so that they never leave her. She would even push off winter and bring in the spring sunshine or stop time itself, so the present moment where they are together would be a lifetime. She speaks of wanting to give, even if it means losing herself, just to be with her beloved.
