Eh....is it? Sinnoh's was pretty tough and Alola's elite 4 were actual characters you know. In USUM Steel, Rock, Ghost, and Flying were all pretty strong types for the elite 4...and it was tough and the music went along with that pretty well.

This theme spared absolutely no expense in letting you know for certain that these were the biggest, baddest challenges of your trainer career. Even Alder's and Iris' themes sound triumphant and cheerful compared to this, because the game knows you've already won if you can defeat these juggernauts.

They may have the hardest music, may be known to some as the hardest elite four ever, even their types may counter each other's; but for me, the main reason these four trainers are my favorite E4 of the franchise is their group synergy.

Sure, there's almost nothing in common between a quirky writer, an obsessed fighter, a ruined ludopath and an overpowered sleeper, but together they feel like a unified, whole entity. And I'm not talking about the relationships between themselves. There's just something about them that makes them feel like a homogeneous group of people formed by totally opposite parts; in contrast to the heterogeneity of the groups formed by the other regions' E4 members, which, yes, in certain regions there could be a bit of group synergy, but it won't be as strong as the Unova E4's dynamic (by my perspective, at least).

@@jaydenc367 I think a lot of it has to do with their character design. They mesh really well, but at the same time they all give off their own main character energy. As opposed to something like sun and moon where you have a kahuna, a hot woman, ghost girl, and a literal golfer.

I recently played through Gen 5's elite 4...I didn't have to do too much grinding but some and afterwards the elite 4 wasn't the hardest I've fought, it was tough at times but gen 1's elite 4 was arguably harder and so was Gen 4's. Like sure I had a Pikachu and a Eevee during the elite 4 but still...and in BW I did choose Snivy so...I had the weakest starter yet I still won. Really the real challenges was fighting against N and Ghetsis back to back. And really Gen 7 had a tough elite 4...especially with Kahili and Molayne in USUM.

that freaking shauntal is a nightmare.. her chandalure seems like having 1000 base attack and 1000 base defense with speed of sound..then her other pokemon are also the same.. i wonder how those kiddos who started playing BW as their first pokemon game were doing and how it effect their mental health because all four are freaking hard.

I love how mystical and threatening this theme is, and how perfectly it applies to Shauntal, Grimsly, and Caitlin, all using supernatural types.

The last time the Elite 4 has beaten me up, Jesus, that Rock Slide has made me lose my shit, Energy Ball on Fire type? It was something unthinkable at time. Those Dark types gave me some work, and I still have nightmares with Reuniclos.
