Red
Powder Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don't wanna wear red
I just wanna be a big rock star instead
I don't wanna be digging a ditch in the middle of hell
And get a bullet through my head

I don't wanna wear red
I don't wanna wear red
I lived and died in '64
A faceless soldier in the war
No I'm a woman not a man
But here I stand

I don't wanna wear red
I just wanna be a big rock star instead
I don't wanna be digging a ditch in the middle of hell
And get a bullet through my head

I don't wanna wear red
I don't wanna wear red

I wake up screamin' (screamin')
from past life dreamin' (dreamin')
Now what a senseless waste of time
Are we out of our minds?

I don't wanna wear red
I just wanna be a big rock star instead
I don't wanna be digging a ditch in the middle of hell
And get a bullet through my head

I don't wanna wear red
I don't wanna, I don't wanna wear red

I wake up screamin (screamin')
from past life dreaming (dreamin')
Now what a senseless waste of time
Are we out of our minds?

I don't wanna wear red
I just wanna be a big rock star instead
I don't wanna be digging a ditch in the middle of hell
And get a bullet through my head

I don't wanna wear red (repeat 4x)

Hey, hey

Overall Meaning

In Powder's song "Red," the lyrics revolve around the desire to escape fate and live a life less ordinary. The repetition of "I don't wanna wear red" at the beginning and throughout the song is a metaphor for the singer's desire to avoid being considered just another faceless soldier in the war. They want to stand out and achieve something great, like becoming a rock star, instead of being stuck in a mundane job that could lead to a tragic end.

The mention of living and dying in '64 also has a powerful meaning. It references the peak of the Vietnam War, where many young men were drafted and sent to fight, often dying in the process. However, the singer reveals that they too served in the war, indicating that it's not just men who are affected by war, but women too. Despite this, the singer still longs for a life beyond war and violence, an escape from the past.

The line "Are we out of our minds?" emphasizes the idea that society has become accustomed to a culture of violence and war, and the desire to break away from it is seen as insane or unreasonable. The singer questions this norm, pointing out the senseless waste of time and lives that war brings. Overall, "Red" is a powerful call for individuality and the pursuit of one's passions, rather than conforming to societal expectations and being trapped in a cycle of destruction.

I really believe that building a weapon is an experiment. Most builders create weapons and don't work out the bugs, build a weapon that's yours not thousand's of people and test it yourself .......I owned several that were too highly priced for what they offered (Daniel Defense and Maxim Defense), from (8) lowers I found a well priced and well built lower made by Diamondback DB15 Multi it's thicker at joints and thick easy to handle take down/pivot pins (made by a company that started making aluminum airboats) in Florida they know hot to build with aluminum.

Second I chose an upper to shoot 7.62x39 and after firing several uppers decided to go with a 10" CMMG upper and had Zaviar firearms (Longwood FL.) build me a custom aluminum 11" M-Lok handguard to cover my large KAK flash can and ended looking between a Geissele charging handle and a raptor, but ended with a Radian Raptor.

For optics I also tried several and found that the best for all around is an Eotech XPS-2 (non NV) and from 4 (3X) magnifiers found the cleanest glass and small size the Trijicon G43.

The cheapest and best light for home and all around I chose the Olight Valkyrie Pro. Pop up sights like always (in case) ever needed I slammed a front and rear made by Springfield Armory.

For 7.62x39 my brace that worked perfect with no issued is the Maxim Defense PDW with a H2 buffer ......

Now I built my weapon and it took me about (6 months) during a pandemic ...... She's mine and there is one of her ......and she shoots time after time.... If I could count the weapons I purchased and on the first day something breaks, or overgassed or broken trigger or ejector springs.
