Fluctuant contraria
Lascivus amor et pudicitia
Sed eligo quod video
Collum iugo prebeo
Ad iugum tamen suave suave transeo
In Trutina is a Latin phrase meaning "in a doubtful situation of the mind". The lyrics of the song reflect the inner turmoil of a woman who is struggling to choose between two conflicting emotions - passionate love and virtuous chastity. The first two lines, "In trutina mentis dubia/Fluctuant contraria" convey the mental conflict that the singer is experiencing. She is torn between two opposing forces that pull her in different directions.
The second part of the lyrics, "Lascivus amor et pudicitia" depicts the two opposing emotions - lascivious love and virtuous chastity. The woman is struggling to balance her desire for passionate love with her need for moral purity. The last lines of the song, "Sed eligo quod video/Collum iugo prebeo/Ad iugum tamen suave suave transeo," hint that the singer has made her choice. She chooses to submit herself to the yoke of chastity, despite the allure of passionate love.
